Default LS460L AWD - New to me

Just traded my 2006 LS430 ML edition 93,000 miles for 2010 LS460L AWD version. My initial impressions are very positive with improvements noticed in the following areas:

1. Ride comfort greatly enhanced
2. Noise at highway speed greatly improved
3. Navigation, Blue Tooth and Sound System big improvement

Some negatives

1. Noise at idle is higher. Sounds like valve noise or more likely injector noise
2. General quality of plastic interior parts is a notch lower than the LS430 although it is nice to have leather or vinyl covered console sides.
3. While the overall ride is more comfortable, the rear suspension does make more noise over big bumps

The trim is a very light grey and will be a concern in terms of upkeep but I enjoy detailing my cars

My first priority is just to get it detailed and then go from there. I have just ordered from Sewell a set of all weather mats, luggage net and first aid kit as these were missing from my car. Other than that I have a few stone chips and bumper cover scuffs to touch up and then I have to think about the minor wear on the drivers door arm rest.

What mods are popular on the LS460 models?

The most popular is by far aftermarket wheels, there are few threads (one of them is a sticky!) on them already. LED mods are popular as well. Most LS owners stop there, if you search around, there are lots of informative threads.

Any chance for some pics?

Welcome to the 460 forums. There are many discussions regarding the LS460 engine noise which you might want to review. I would have the dealer check the rear end noise because that does not seem normal. Anyway, congratulations and look forward to some pics.

With regard to the rear section noise over bumps, the LS460 has electrically-damped struts which extend up toward/into the rear pillars. You should have the dealer ensure the settings are correct.

I experienced the same problem with my 2010 LS460L AWD.
