Question Extended auto warranty, LS460 2007

Hi

I just bought LS 460L 2007, car has 92 000 miles. I knew this car before transaction, because the previous owner is my friend. Therefore, I don't expect any hidden problems. However, the car has 92.000 miles and is six years old. So, I am looking to buy extended warranty. Obviously, I can't buy the Lexeus mfg warranty, so my only option is the 3rd party warranty. Does anyone has any experience with this kind of warranties? Which one is worth to buy, moreover, is it the good idea to buy 3rd party warranty for my Lexus? I checked some companies which offer this kind warranty, but mostly I found users complains and negative reviews .
Please give me an advice.

Don't know much about them, but you may want to visit some local independent auto mechanics that specialize in Lexus (and other high-end cars). They may be able to tell you the warranty companies to stay away from as well as the ones they know will be (relatively) easy to deal with. You could also check with your local Lexus dealer and ask the service manager the same thing. In either case, you can also ask what you should be on the lookout for on a car of your age and mileage (my guess is nothing!). Good luck.

I just bought a 2007 LS460 with 65,000 miles. I bought it from a client who always had it serviced by the dealer, and spared no expense in maintenance, and all the TSB's and recall items were addressed.

My credit union offered the MPower Vehicle Service Contract, which adds 48 months or 50,000 miles to the current odometer. The cost is $1,726.00. I compared the prices and coverages for several, and this was the best. It lines up with the Certified program offered by Lexus, but you can have the work done at a number of approved shops, including Lexus dealers.

i understan you, but PLEASE dont forget to mention to him that you must be part of that credit union in order to get that.
He wants to outright be able to call somebody and purchase the warranty, NOT enroll into something or have some sort of a catch.

Honestly, i would just drive the hell out of it and make sure you keep all fingers crossed on the steering wheel that nothing breaks or you might think of getting another loan just to finance the cost of fixing an expensive item such as the transmission or engine. lol

My 08 was still under factory warranty when I bought it from a non Lexus Dealer outside of Florida about 6 months ago.

I purchased an 8 year 100,000 mile LEXUS PLATINUM warranty for $2,400. This gave me 4 addtional years and 60,000 miles of full coverage with Zero deductable.

Florida dealers refused to discount warranties from retail prices so I got it from Midwest Toyota.

Until recently Florida Law prohibited discounting of these warranties. From what I understand Gov Rick Scott had that changed in 2010 but dealers still are not budging in Florida.

Most credit unions offer similar warranties. https://www.penfed.org/route-66-extended-warranty/ They also offer cheap money. Penfed will finance or refinance a used car at 1.74% for 60 months. If you buy from one of their participating dealers rates as low as 0.79% Anyone can join that credit union.

They also have a VISA card that gives 5 points for gas and supermarket purchases.

My 2008 GX470 had around 72,000-miles on it when I was searching for my extended warranty. I found a couple of places that had really low prices but the reviews were HORRIBLE and the sales reps themselves even told me specific parts that I was worried about were not covered.

There were a couple of other places I tried but their prices were either too high or they weren't giving me enough coverage that was worth it for the price (I think it was Carchex or some other one that would only give me 2-years/50,000 more miles for 5,500!! yeah right!). I ended up getting my warranty at a place called warranty headquarters. They gave me the top level of coverage and I got 4-years with 60,000 miles which was better for me.

You can get a quote from them here and if you can, try to negotiate with them. I got a discount just for working at a public school!

Thanks for advice. It is proved that Lexus cars are very reliable. However if something breaks, repair will not be cheap.

What specific parts you were worried about? I will check them with the company what I am going to choose

I paid 1200 for an extended warranty from my credit union, they cover everything including nav and ML amp etc, 100 dollar deduct per visit. 2 Struts and 2 control arms replaced, its paid for itself already.
