Default Need advice about replacign Brake Pads for my 2008 LS 600hl

I have two 2008 LS 600HL nieman marcus edition cars (Nieman Marcus wheels are different. Hopefully brakes are not different?)
One of them needs brakes. Dealer quoted $800 to resurface the rotors and replace pads.
Dealer said that the rotors need to be resurfaced.

I am seeking advice to replace the pads. One of my employees has replaced brake pads on cars but never a Lexus. I will ask him to replace the pads. I won't even have the rotors resurfaced.

1. What do I need to buy in terms of parts?
2. I would prefer to buy from Sewell Lexus. They give great discounts. But I saw Akebono. Would they be better? I don't like squealing.. I have no squeal right now.

Sewell Lexus has pads for about $55 per pad kit but they have two options: textar and Mark advics. Is one preferrable to the other?

Also, for the front, swell has : 04945 0494550110
SHIM KIT, ANTI SQUEAL, FRONT
Whats this shim kit? I have not had a brake squeal problem. I don't know whether my car has the shims or not. Do I need to order them?

What should I order along with rear brake pads?

I just want to order a kit. Can someone knowledgeable, advise me on this?
Thanks.

I can't advise you on most of the stuff, but what I can say is that you want to find out if the parking brake is electric or not. If it is, you might need a computer to fully disengage the rear parking brake mechanism to do any brake work back there.

Otherwise, it can certainly be a DIY type job. I'm sure others will chime in on that.

parking brake pads are seperate from the rear. the parking brake is like a drum where your rear will be regular pads. nothing too hard
