Default Question for those that have installed aftermarket subs in with the ML system

I'd just like to know where the input for your aftermarket amp is coming from? I had my input installed from the actual ML amp but it seems as if it cuts the bass at a certain level. I get more volume but the bass seems to stay the same from around 40 up. Is there a way to provide an input from the actual head unit or any other way? Anything helpful is appreciated. Thanks.

I got mine from the ML amp in the trunk on the right side. From the input that controls the sub. I dont know the exact details as I had a professional installer do mine. I do know they took about 7 hours the first day on the install then when it was "done" I had the same issue you where bass would cut in and out and had to take it back the next day again for another 3 hours. These cars are tricky.

I'm actively working on a viable solution to this problem.. here's a lil known fact.. the rear deck sub is actually bridged (combined left and right signal.. rt pos and left neg i believe) so if u grab the signal at the sub the output is increased. BUT there is still the rolloff effect at about 38/40 audio control has a process called "AccuBASS" it works awesome on non ML amps ...but as of yet i cant find a fix for the ML problem... its slow going but as soon as i sort it out you'll be my 2nd stop.. (still chanting for a fix)

Did they finish it and fix that issue? And where did you bring it?

Its not that it would cut in and out, but exactly what Shibumi explained. I was thinking of possibly running the signal from where the front door speakers get their signal from and see what happens. I know it has a little more mid than just the sub alone but my aftermarket 6x9s hit real hard all the way up to 62.
Let me know if you come up with anything Shibumi. I'd love to just leave it as is but have something that hits a little harder.

Oh yeah they fixed it the next day. Ive a sound system for over a year now just redid it as well a few months ago new battery, amp, and from 2 10's to 1 12 Kicker L7 to give me a little more space. Audio Sound Specialists out in Hayward did a fantastic job they have worked with many top tier vehicles and sound competitors.

@busa, I undrestand your issue that you are having with bass output of your sub once it reach a certain volume from the factory headunit and amp. Alpine makes a unit to solve this problem by allowing you to keep you factory headunit and amp but it gives you the performance of an after market headunit ( product model PXA-H800 and RUX-C800 the lowest i found these two for was on amazon H800-$539.95 and C800-$207.99).These two units work together to fix that problem of factory and aftermarket audio integration. There is a long list of things that it can do to help improve the sound quality of your system. I have seen it do wonders on several factory integration systems and i highly recommend it.

i cant believe all of the problems i am hearing? i just used a cheap hi-low convertor and connected it to the front door 6x9 and it works perfect! ive tried getting the signal from the factory sub, but it sounds better from the door......and louder of course. but each his own. 7 hours for a amp install....lol did mine in under 1 hour!

Linus, that was actually my next step. The 6x9s seem to hit harder thrushes entire volume range. I was going to find the output from the amp side though to eliminate extra wiring.

the problem with wiring the 6x9's as sub bass is they dont actually play sub bass more of a true midbass.. i tried it an you lose the really low end..(i'd say 50hz and down are cut out) i may try a summing module (clean sweep, 3sixty.3 etc...to sum up a true full range signal then break it back down to sub signal only, but then there is still that damn rolloff @ 38/40 to deal with)

Shibumi, I have something that might be of help with this system. Shoot me a PM with an email so I can send it to you. You might be able to decipher it since youre better at this electronic stuff.
Besides that, since there's a loss of the low end, would it be possible to run one side of the input on the LC2 with the output of the 6x9 and the other input with the output of the sub? Im thinking if something like that is done, you can leave the LC2 to figure out what goes to the aftermarket amp. Im running a mono amp.
