No love for 2012 LS ?
How did the 2012 LS end up on Consumer Reports' "Used cars to avoid" list?? April 2013 issue, page 84.
They usually love Lexus vehicles.

I don't know, it makes no sense. The car gets "average" rating for brakes and body integrity. Everything else is given the best rating, except drive system and audio system which are slightly below the best rating.
It has better ratings than model years '07 to '11 and yet it is the only year they advise to avoid.

That is weird. My car doesn't have any squeaks or rattles although the Brembos do squeak but I'm sure that's not what they are talking about. The 07-09's have below average marks for the audio system but yet have a better than average overall rating.

I personally think that magazine is a rag, but did they give a reason why the 2012 LS was a car to avoid. The car has not really changed much since 2007. Mine has many options, but I do not have the air suspension, as I know that can be an issue. The power train is awesome, the ML audio is extremely nice. What is there not to like!

Their methodology on specific cars years' to recommend/avoid is solely based on subscriber feedback. Is it really shaky at best.

They do conduct surveys from subscribers, and maybe many 2012 LS owners reported some problem or other in their survey results. And LS owners tend to be more vocal than other owners
I did not see anything specific in that issue of the magazine. All luxury vehicles in that class have a high ownership cost (incl. BMW, Benz, etc.), but to suggest that it's predicted reliability is below average is very strange.
