Default 08 ls460 needs new control arms

Dealer told me needed new control arms as the bearings are wearing out. Was quoted a little over $3k. Anyone else have this issue? Doesn't really bother me bc it only makes a clicking noise when I apply brakes hard but concerned about safety issue. Surprised a car like this would need new control arms with only 70k miles on it.

3K sounds like a lot. You might be able to get the arms from the dealer parts department at a internet price, and have a reputable suspension shop install and align it for you. 70K isn't too horrible. Ball joints don't last forever and they take quite a beating.

If you needed all front 8 which the case may be, you could get them for about $2,000. Install for maybe $200-300 at a shop. I have 56K on my 2007 and they are in good shape. Knock on wood :P How many did they say were bad?

Yikes! Talk about HIGH maintenance!!!

Is this type of repair 'normal' for this vehicle at 70k miles?

Is this something that would be covered under warranty (if the vehicle was still within the warranty period)?

I had mine replaced when I was having my vibration issue. I am happy to see that they did that now that I know the price for repair.

Control arm bearing?

You mean bushings?

I'm assuming he meant bushing. The bushing itself is not for sale, so in order to replace the bushing you need to replace the entire arm.

Yes bushing. The car is at dealer now and contacted Lexus corporate to see what they can do. Will update on final outcome.

I had all front upper and lower arms replaced @ 50k miles to the tune of $3800. Good thing the ext warranty covered it.
