Default LS 430 to LS 460 report

I have just traded in my beloved LS 430 (2003) for my new 2013 LS 460. Here is my 30 day initial report.

Well, these are very different cars.

Here is what I miss.

I miss the simplicity of the radio controls and having to access the screen to make adjustments. I still have not figured out how to use the steering wheel audio controls to access all the AM stations that I've pre-set. Hopefully, the dealer will help at the 1000 mile service.

I miss the visibility of the more upright seating, and all around visibility from the driver's side.

I miss the five speed gear box, where, using the throttle, I could go to the gear I wanted without fighting with the computer.

I wonder if all these electronics will hold up for the average of 10 years I tend to keep these cars. I know my personal computers will be long gone in ten years.

Finally, I miss the sound of the engine. The new one just sounds different and not so nice.

But, there are many things I do like about my new ride.

The interior is just plush, and is on a par with any other automobile I considered, including Audi, MB, Jag, and Porsche.

The seats are really comfortable with all the adjustments. Wife appreciates the right side adjustments too.

The styling, including the new front end, is very attractive. Only down side is the low front end that already has a small scratch from a curb.

The optional "radar" indicator for 'blind spot' and curb interferences is a very good option.

And the handling is much better, steering is tighter, and the ride is just as smooth.

Finally, I have been getting better gas mileage with my driving routine (75% freeway) than I got before. I'm averaging close to 24 MPG vs. 22 MPG with the 430.

I'll report again after the first year. So far, I'm glad I moved up, but just wish I still had the dark blue 430 to keep my new ride company in the garage.

Congrats on the new ride.

How about some pics - inside and out?

Congratulation! My Dark Green 1992 hooked me on to Lexus also and I haven't stopped buying Toyota products since. Hope you enjoy it as much as I have.
