Everyone will tell you something different, so it's really just a matter of what you want. I personally have 15% all around and planning on doing 50% front. There is also a large variety of materials that they use so i'd say it's important to read up on that. I wouldn't pay more than 200 for decent tint. Also, search around for tint threads in this forum, there are some good reads as well!

I have 5% on all my rear windows but nothing up front. In California it's illegal and I really don't need or want the drama. But from most angles it looks like I have tint on my front windows because my car has black interior.

I've had 21 years of five window tint on five cars. Got caught once, paid a $70 ticket but removing the tint was not required. It's been well worth the cost to me.

I have 25% doors, 15% rear window..very happy with my ceramic tint..I think it is an absolute must have. Not only for interior protection, but AC operation and your health if you are on the road alot. Also recommend a 70% ceramic tint for windshield...very very light tint, but blocks all UVs. That is next on my list

Keep in mind, black interiors will look darker with the same percentage tint compared to a cashmere beige and alabaster interior colors.

I had the cashmere beige interior on my 460 and i had 15% all around..looked perfect during the day and nice and dark at night

My new LS has black interior, so I bumped up the percentage to 25% on the doors, kept the back at 15% and "darkness appearance wise" it looks like my 460. Interior dash and seating colors plays a huge role as to how dark the tint looks. And, remember you have a factory tint of around 94-96%..meaning, you will need to subtract 4-6% to get the true percentage. 25% tint on my windows reads at 19% on the meter.....My 460 at 15% read at 9% on the tint meter.

I have 5% all around, 50% on the windshield with a black interior, it's like a cave at noon, but that's what I wanted.

Lol, funny you mention that. My previous car had 5% limo tint all around and when I got the 460 I left it fish bowl for about a year and loved it, hahaha. It was ultimately done for the privacy factor + the Florida heat on a blk/blk car is just killer!

I have 5% all around and love it - don't cheap out on the quality of the film though.

i tint all my cars. I do like the look better but more so I like keeping the suns damaging UV rays off of my interior. My wife and some friends don't like but there cars always look older than mine. I have a 2006 IS250 I bought brand new in 2005. It still looks brand new on the inside while my wife's VW CC that is 2 years old is already starting to show some sun damage from fading. Just my 2 cents. Even if you do the lightest tint it will keep most of the sun damage to a very minimum.

Certain cars will attract more attention and tint up front will give reason to pull you over. Lowered LS with 22 inch wheels will attract attention. I personally do not want to even deal with getting pulled over. I do a lot of San Francisco night driving...I did a lot of work in the night life scene and still head out every once in a while. I don't want to get pulled over for tint then get a sobriety check as well. Not that I risk it because I could lose my nursing license for it...but being in certain places at certain times will just raise that risk.

35% all around (no windshield) does it for me. that's the legal limit in Illinois

much better then naked. more privacy, less light + it looks better. imo

^^ what he said.

i have 35% as well and it looks much better, more hi-end. And it helps making the a/c more efficient.

Check it out:

This is an old thread with pics of my car after the tint.
