Default 2008 LS460 Needs New Door Lock Actuator

I have searched but found no posts on door actuator problems. Driver front door lock does not work and dealer quotes $1100 to replace. Anyone have this issue? I had this problem on my 2001 GS and an alternate fix was to replace the motor or about $10. Also have seen some posted problems for LS430's. It bugs be that this seems to be a recurring problem for Lexus.

Any ideas, alternate sources for part? All words of wisdom would be appreciated.

Search Google for Trademotion Pembroke Pines Lexus and search their awesome part catalog..I find their prices to be the best. Also check Sewell Lexus Parts. I believe they offer a Club Lexus discount..then find an independent mechanic to put that in

Thanks for info. Pembroke has it $200 less than dealer.

Surprised no one else has had this issue. Maybe Lexus have solved the problem for the most part and I just drew the short straw.

I had to have my rear door lock actuator replaced at 70K. Luckily I had the Lexus extended warranty so the cost was $0.00 On the receipt from the service department I believe it was around $1500.00

Yes, my LS430 has issues on 2 doors, currently working on the first door. It has a broken switch on the locking mechanism, $67 at the dealer, I'll install. Same lock remote cable has stretched 1/8" plus and would have quit working after a short while. I'm fixing this also. The 2nd door is showing signs of a stretched cable, not locking remotely, (key, drivers door lock). Many other members are having problems w/ door actuators so I'm also changing that on both doors. Ebay has a few suppliers auctioning actuators, very cheap, like 3 for $19.00, auction by tag16c or just type in "Mabuchi", makers of actuators, phone (248-816-3100, sales/America) help on installation check out member TRD911, posted his first DIY instruction. Good Luck 69charger

$1500 for a door actuator? Wow. What a rip off.

Well, I got the dreaded 4 beeps after unlocking my car today ..looks like my driver side rear door actuator is bad. It won't respond when I touch the door handle, nor can I lock the car using the button on the handle like the other 3 doors. But what is weird is sometimes the lock/unlock button will make it work and the auto door closer still works fine. But most of the day so far, I have to manually flip the lock lever by the interior handle...sux...looks like another CPO repair...so glad I have that!!

On 11/14/12 I posted my response to actuator issues on my 2001 ls430. Please read this as you'll see sites w/actuator parts and sites on DIY replacement. The actuator consists of many parts, gears, motors, etc. inclosed in a plastic actuator assembly case. The dealer only replaces the entire assembly case where only the little motor needed replacement. So pry open the case and replace the little motor, <10$ that opens the door lock. Good luck. If u need help send an email. 69charger

Thanks, but I'm not doing anything. My car is covered under CPO warranty through Lexus and I'm going to let them deal with it. And it's free for me..if it happens again before Aug 2017..guess what..they will fix it again. If it happens after Aug 2017, then I'll read the DIY lol haha. #AintPayinForJack

I have had the same issues on actuators on my 13 RX350. A simple fix due to some good Youtube videos. Last week the drivers door on my 08 ls460 actuator went out. After I got in to replace it, I couldn't get it out! It is wedged in there unlike the RX350s. Does anyone have a video to get it out??? Door panel off, I can even get my hand onto the actuaotr. It just wont wiggle out.

Thx DJ

The actuator and the lock may all be in the same unit - you may have to remove the lock to get the actuator out. I have this issue on my '99 RX300 and that's how it is - I've learned to just live with it!
