Default What is 25000 mile of Lexus warranty worth

My brother-in-law asked me to help him with selling his 09 LS 460L with 25,300 miles on it. The car is mint, loaded with premium sound, parking assist, etc and 25K mile left on the warranty. Kelly BB says the car is worth approx. $48K. What do you guys think the warranty is worth?

The warranty is 4 years or 50K miles whichever comes first. You will get a slightly higher trade in value if the car is under the original factory warranty - but I don't know how much.

Default 09 Lexus

I do not think the low mileage and warranty are directly related as far as book price on the car. The low mileage itself will help with the resale value, and the fact that the warranty is there is good, but not a price enhancer. The warranty for an 09 will expire in 2013 (on month of purchase) regardless of low mileage..

Many 09's were purchased in 08, like mine, which the factory warranty expires in November of this year.

I purchased my loaded (Levinson, park assist etc) LS460SWB as a factory Certified Pre Owned (CPO) vehicle from a Lexus dealer about 2 months ago. The CPO deal includes factory warranty for 3 yrs 100,000 miles on odometer from your date of purchase. This is a $0 deductible warranty with loaner car when being serviced. This gives me practically a 7 yr/100,000 mile warranty for no additional cost. I also got a letter today from the dealer giving me 6 free oil changes over the next 3 years even though I did not purchase the maintenance plan. That is worth another $900 at no cost to me.

When purchasing privately, you don't get the above perks and warranty extensions. BUT If the car you purchase is still in factory warranty you can purchase an Lexus extended warranty (7 yr / 100,000 mile) similar coverage from dealers like Jerry Johnson at Midwest Toyota for a "discounted price" of $2,040.00.

As a price point, Another member recently purchased a loaded 09 LS460L with Executive seating and only 17,000 miles on it for $50k. It also included the CPO 3yr/100,000 mile additional warranty.

Default Thanks Fly

After clarifying, my brother-in-law did purchase the extended warranty to 100,000 mile and 7 years. So that is good info.

If he purchased the extended warranty he should call Lexus since he can get a lot of that money back or he can use it as a selling point.

+1 GREAT POINT!

I just traded in my 08 Toyota Avalon and I had the factory extended warranty. Since the warranty starts the day after the original warranty ends I got a check back for 67% of the original cost. My original factory warranty had expired a year ago.

I would bet your brother in law will get back the contact price paid less a $25 administrative fee since the original factory warranty is still in effect and the extended dd not start. It will be thousands of dollars.

The call is simple. Just give them the contract number for the warranty or the vin number of the car. 1 minute later it is processed and the check arrives a week later.

Just call 1-800-448-1505.

Default Cpo

Believe you will find that the CPO warranty is 3 years or 100,000 miles from original "in-service date", not 3 years/ 100,000 from your date of purchase. In other words you get 3 years from the date you purchased the cpo. But the 100,000 is from the date sold to the original purchaser.

Correct....

CPO 3yr clock starts the day the car is purchased as used by the new owner.
100,000 mile warranty ends when odometer reads 100,000 miles.

My CPO warranty gives me
additional 33 months past factory warranty (bought car 8/12, factory warranty ends 11/12)
Or
Good till odometer reads 100,000 miles
Which ever I reach first

A 7yr/100,000 mile Lexus Platinum extended warranty would have give me
additional 36 months past factory warranty (3 more months)
Or
Good till odometer reads 100,000 miles
Which ever I reach first.

Unless I drive more than 21,000 miles a year the clock will run out before the mileage limit.

One more point on warranty transfer and refund.

Original factory warranty 4yr/50,000 miles is transferable to new owner

Lexus Extended Warranty is transferable to new new owner
Lexus Extended Warranty unused miles or time is refundable

Lexus CPO IS NOT TRASFERABLE
Lexus CPO is not refundable
