Not often. I just think it's cool to have a massive back seat.

The allure is being able to put people in the back seat of your car and not have to wonder if they have enough room. The allure is knowing that not everyone has a LWB because it plain out costs more. Also there are options that are standard on a LWB that are options on a swb.

on another note i seen this same questioned on the 430 boards. On the 460 boards people will say 460 and on the 430 they'll say 430. hopefully you find your answer looking through both.

If you abide by conventional thought, the LWB will have a better ride, too.

The better question is: why go with a SWB? For a few thousand dollars more in the used market a LWB has a lot more standard features.

What are the additional standard features on the LWB (other than length)?

Right off the top of my head...double thickness windows all around and auto closing doors. It's too early to think but others can chime in.

Air suspension is not standard but is a very common option on LWB that is unavailable on rear-wheel-drive SWB cars.

My SWB had just about every option the LWB did except for air susp, rear coolbox and suede headliner. when searching for an LS460 SWB or LWB, you have to pay attention to the buttons on the center console and rear armrest to get a good sense of what packages it has. There are plenty of LWBs out there with NO air suspension. In fact, I have seen more for sale that don't have it then the ones that do because I am looking for the right one to replace my SWB. I may be forced into a 600hL to get the options I want more easily because most of those have all the options I am looking for including RSES, Dynamic Cruise Control with Pre Collision, Premium Package II.. but the hybrid brings along the price to go with all that...bad azz car and its hella BAWSY!!! So who knows what type of LWB I will end up with.

Also, believe in either 2009 or 2010, they started offering the air suspension in the SWB

For the 2009 LS460 Lexus started putting A/S in SWB (Option) and added the memory seat buttons to the front passenger door.

Oh..and LWBs, especially air susp equipped have a nicer ride due to longer wheelbase..typical for most cars..remember the fleetwood caddy? Good Gawd!!

One of the reasons I bought a 600hL is because they pretty much come fully loaded with the only real option being the exec. package. It would be too hard to find a LS460 with all of these options and I didn't want the exec. package with my two toddlers back there but did want RSES.

I am probably in the minority but both my wife and I think our old SWB drove better then the LWB and both had air suspension since all AWD LS' in 2009 came standard with it (it was an option for RWD).

Definitely smoother and quieter than both a 2011 and a 2012 I've driven (SWB) recently. Air suspension is definitely part of it in the smoothness department, but the quiet part makes me wonder, since the new SWBs also have the thick glass like my '08 LWB. I do have the jmcraney fix too, though
