Default LS600h Reliability Issues?

Hello,

I am new to the board and am considering a purchase of a 2008 LS600h with 60k miles. It is not a CPO. Are there any known issues? Are they relatively reliable? It is the CVT and battery pack that scares me most.

Thank you in advance,

David

the CVT is mechanically very simple, from what i've read. not sure if i'm right or not though haha.

mine has given me no issues with regards to mechanical stuff -- all the issues i've had are small, niggling interior issues

5 years, 70,000 miles.

No problems. Just regular maintenance.

Still quiet as a tomb, no squeaks, rattles, or any noises.

Still on the original brakes, only 1/2 used.

From my research, hybrid components are 8 year or 80K miles I believe. Also, check with your credit union on extended warranty. I just got a quote and for an additional 60K miles or 5 years, it was on $1,000 and it is backed by the bank. This is a zero deductible warranty. The $150 deductible only cost $880. These prices were the same for either a 2008 600hL or 2008 460L..helluva deal. I have that warranty on my LS460 that I am selling right now, haven't had to use it yet. With that warranty, you should feel real good. It covers ALL non wearable items. I specifically asked about Hybrid and after the 80K factory warranty, it would still be covered by having this in place..good luck

Same as everyone else still extremely quiet no tranny problems battery has died and stills works fine, though I want to replace is just for peace of mind. Only slight rattles due to my large sound system loosening everything but its a lot more quiet than a 460L i was in still.

My 07 has had the wind noise issue ( fixed), seat discomfort ( fixed at custom shop), low idle/transmission ECU reflash for ruff idle and to stop the car from going into nuetral at stoplights creating a slight delay when taking off. I am EXTREMELY **** when it comes to my cars so I looked up the TSIBs before I bought the car and looked for those specific issues when test driving. Since my car still had factory warranty I had the issues addressed right away. Easier to know what to look for. Car has a slight vibration issue but they think its my tires on the 22's.

Hi All,

I find this thread particularly interesting as I just made the switch from years of Benzs to the Lexus LS600. Bought an 09 CPO. Only had it a few weeks but really like it. The Hybrid thing is nothing like I have ever experienced in a car, really cool and still getting used to it. I bought the maximum extended warranty from the dealer which gives me 125k or June of 2018 for only 2500. A great buy. Came out of a Merc S600. A nightmare to service and repair. Costs were unbelievable. A new set of spark plugs were over 2k. Looking forward to the Lexus.

70,000+ miles, 5 years, I finally have encountered my first problem.

The backup camera intermittently doesn't work, showing only static. Being intermittent, I expect it'll be a tough one to resolve.

All the features on this car (both electronic and mechanical), and after 5 years, only this problem shows a great deal of effort on Lexus's part to manufactuer a problem free car.

Why can't Mercedes or BMW (or Audi?) build this kind of reliability into their cars? I'm sure they could, but is it too expensive for them?

Speaking of the features, I was looking at a new Audi A6 (I need a smaller car) and was greatly impressed by it's specifications and feature list. Then I realized that virtually all of the new and touted features (radar cruise control, park assist, rain sensing wipers, etc) I've had for years on my '08....

I do NOT have the 600h but my 450h is quite nice. I don't have any issues on it yet (knock on woods) except the "sewing machine" noise which I believe it is from the Dun-craps tires. Hybrid components is covered 8 years/100k miles. I love the "stealth" mode and the somewhat exclusive.

I had an 06 and then a 10. The 06 became disasterous in repairs at 48k miles. New turbo intercooler, ABC hose and pump, battery and tires ran 7k.

The 10 was better but only had 30k when I traded it for the Lexus.
