Not thrilled with the garish front fascia. Looks cheap in person on the LS. Subtler design would have been better IMHO. I'm reminded of a MACK truck.

as I was saying on another thread...

I am not impressed by the new LS. I got into one the other day and to me it looks less of a limousine type of car inside & out then the previous gen. it's too sporty and for the lack of a better word not imposing enough for the flagship car the the LS has been known for until now...

I don't like the grill, the back is a bit too raised and the interior center console is just ugly with those vents under the GPS and the horizontal design lines rather then a solid vertical unit type of center console in the previous gen.

Personally, I think they went the wrong route and the new LS is more like a GS on steroids

I do not at all agree with you. The new LS460 is a huge improvement over the 07-12 model, the only thing it lacks IMO is new powertrain options.

I like the interior so much more than before, the LED interior lighting is nice. Just seems very flagship and on par with Audi and BMW flagships.

As for the exterior, it does look very similar to the last model and the Lexus pics make it look more different than it really is in real life.

The front end looks great too!

Was buying some parts at the dealer yesterday and they got a few basic package 13' LS460s in, so I checked it out in person for the 1st time.

Before I say the following, let me 1st declare no offence to 07'-12' LS owners, I am just saying my personal opinion.

WOW, the interior is night and day difference. The 07' car felt cheap to me and this 13' car feels rich. When I was looking at the 07' car, to this day, I just feels I am glad that I got a mint LS430 UL. Now this 13' car, I feels attracted, I actually feels I would like to own this.

The new front end looks a lot nicer in real life then in picture also.

The only thing that leave a lot to desire is the same old 4.6L drivetrain, if the LS650 really comes out, is going to be hard to resist!

One interesting thing I notice on this new car is, the soft closing door's actuator motor is softer and quieter then before. But they added an initial delay in it, I am sure is for safety, I don't like that as I don't like delay response from anything but I imagine I could get use to it.

i am glad you noticed the same thing too. it's definitely quieter, but also slower. and i don't like the initial delay as well, a little too long imho

but overall i can really sit inside of it all day long

haha......I guess I am very picky on soft closing door's operation. I hate the Benz's design because it actually doesn't close on the 1st latch, it actually require a little more effort in closing it, kind of defeat the purpose of it. I love my LS430's design, but the motor can be quieter. Now this 13' car, I love how quiet it is, but initial delay is annoying, it makes you think is it really going to close? But from my several try, it closes everytime, so I am sure once I get to know it, I know for sure it would close.

Same here, I absolutely love it, and I just checked out a pretty basic car. The fully loaded ones are going to be lovely.

I was shocked to see Aniline leather and alcantara headliner on a base car, then I found out it is a stand alone option now, nice! And the top of the door panel and door arm rest are leather wrapped too, thank god. I guess they have to since everyone really up their game. The 07' car plastic everywhere was a huge turn off.

the leather door panel has been there since 07, as long as you get the premium packages. i suppose now with the semi-aniline leather option those leather door panels are part of it too

I admit I didn't look that far into it since I didn't like the overall interior design, but I saw a few $85k 460s with a bunch of options on it and it still got plastic arm rest, that killed it for me. The 600's interior are all leather.

Let's put it this way, when I was looking at the 07' LS460, I rather have a W221. Now this 13' LS makes me want a Lexus again.

Default just saw my first 2013 LS460L up close & personal

my third time there and they finally had one but it was for delivery. they've had 4/5 that were sold in a couple of days their next batch is due in january. i'll hold on to my GS-F Sport for another year maybe 2 and then the LS. it's a very nice car. not much changed except the headlights, hood and trunk and of course the interior. hopefully a total redesign by the time i get rid of the GS for the LS.
