Default Intro and few questions

Hello......

I've been reading many threads over the past week or two and decided to join as I just bought an 09 LS AWD which will be shipped to me in a week or so.

I want to get wheels, but I don't know that I want to go as big as 22's......in my head, 20's would be a good step up from the 18s without converting the ride to a rolling rock (22s) as far as suspension feel, or is any upgraded wheel going to cause that? I also don't want to spend $5k in wheels/tires, so who knows....

I know the LS has the body roll when cornering, but is there an under engine type of sway bar stiffener to solidify that or not so much?

i have to be careful of reading too many of these threads or upgradeitis will kill me....ha.

Thanks for any information.......

Tom's racing makes nice braces. I have a few of them on my LS.

20's would be a nice choice if you didn't want to do 22's.

Thank you PRSUIT....

I should also mention that I don't want to do any mods that would affect my CPO warranty........

Well, 22s won't turn the ride into a rolling rock but it's a little contradictory when you say you don't like the body roll and want stiffeners but again, don't want a rolling rock? For the most part, everything you do to the suspension will move it away from how Lexus intended it to be and thusly stiffen the ride= "rolling rock". You also say you don't want to do too many mods so I would keep the factory wheels because it really doesn't seem to be your thing. They do make sway/strut bars but they are expensive I believe, but again, what's the point? Are you really going to be taking turns at a high rate of speed? Just keep it factory an enjoy!

The sway bars will affect the side to side body roll issue which shouldn't affect how the car rolls over bumps, right?

I think I probably just have to ride in a car with upgraded wheels to see how differently that changes the ride...on my last car I changed the tires and the ride was more abrasive.........just not sure how much harsher or not the 20 wheels change that from 18s.....a bit conflicted...but open to the idea....

I also did not like the body roll and just lowering the car on some coil overs (w/ adjustable dampening) has helped tremendously. Albeit, its a lil more stiff, it handles a lot more sporty and I can corner smooth on/off ramps w/ good speed and not feel like the top is rolling. I don't think you're going to need sway bars for your LS, but thats just my opinion.

As for the 22's, its really been a great surprise in how good they feel. I always thought going over 20" would change things dramatically but the 22's are perfect for this car in size and feel. If you go 20", I'm almost willing to bet you'll regret it because they will look small. The body panels on this car are so long and flowing and the wheel wells can accommodate so much real estate, 22's really are the way to go, but again, just my opinion.

And CJITTY is right, this forum has most of all your questions you need answered littered through the threads. There's a ton of info here and I find myself consumed by trying to get to all of it! LOL

What's the ballpark pricing for lowering the car?
