Default IS250 Trunk mechanism broken

Trunked poped open but when I tried to close it it would not close. I tried using a screw driver to see if it would engage and notice it was not closing. Took the latch mechanism off and notice this part that should reset itself after you open it was stuck in place not allowing the latch to close. When giving it a little help it would close every time but the actuator did not have enough force to open it. I got it to close but if I want to open it I have to pull up hard on the truck lid so that it opens. Need a new latch mechanism. $252 from the dealer. F@!& Anyone know where i can get it cheaper? found some sites that have it for $200. They are running $109 on eBay used.

?? That's not cheap enough? Heck, even 100 bucks on Ebay is a bargain.

Express Oil Change slammed my LS460 trunk which jammed the mechanism.Found this thread, disconnected battery for 30 seconds-reset worked......of course after the mechanic tried everything from taking out the seat and trying to reach inside to the
trunk release.I thought about disconnecting battery when this first happened but didn't!My bad!Took a few tries to get it to realign itself.Working fine now-I hope. Thanks for the posts.

Another reason not to bring you vehicle to these quick oil change places. Not to insult the whole lot but most are very unskilled especially dealing with high end vehicles.

As an aside, when I take someone besides my immediate family who does not know how to close the trunk properly, I gnash my teeth and politely inform them of the power close button. My LS600 has the power door closers and I cringe when someone slams the door shut. Comes with the territory for strangers I am driving but I would avoid going to quick change oil shops at all costs. Glad you had a happy ending to your problem.

I have to wonder why the Express tech was snooping in audiodoc's trunk in the first place.

When "confronted" about going into the trunk he/she would most likely say that they were checking the air in the spare tire or looking for the lug nut key to check the torque on the lug nuts.
