Currently own 2006 GS300 Looking to upgrade to LS460. All insight & opinions welcome
I have always loved the LS460 and have always wanted one. Been a bit out of my price range up until now. I am currently driving a 2006 GS300 RWD sedan. Black with beige interior (light interiors aren't quite my preference). I have it completely fully loaded. Mark Levinson and all the works. I have around 88,000 miles and I have Lexus Platinum Warranty until February 2013 or 100,000. Whichever comes first.
So this dealer I'm friends with has a 2007 Lexus LS460. Also Mark Levinson and all the works. Black on black. Beautiful. Not a single scratch and from what he tells me its mechanically sound. He would even be willing to take my car and have me pay a difference of $11,000 for the LS. He also is willing to save me some money on taxes by taking the trade in of my car.
So here is my dilemma. Is it REALLY worth paying $11,000 for a one year newer car with just 8,000 less miles. Is it worth me leaving behind a Platinum Warranty behind that is realistically good for another one full year to go to something that I have no guarantees with.
How much better is an LS460 than a gs300. What problems should i be aware of? Any opinions would GREATLY be appreciated. All insight welcome.
THANKS

if we talk about car to car it's night and day. the 3gs is ok but the ls460 is far better, from build quality to ride smoothness to space, luxury, etc... the only thing you lose would be the driving dynamics, the ls460 doesn't carry the same kind of excitement you will get in the 3gs. that's what to look out for.
the gs has warranty, the ls doesn't so that's something you will need to consider.

The money sounds right, although you should price out both cars on a couple sites like Edmunds, NADA and KBB. I agree with Rominl that the warranty is a bit of a risk for you to think about, but it is a pretty reliable car.

Yes. I priced everything out. I definitely win on the trade. And if I was to sell my car to a private buyer then buy an LS460 from somewhere else I would honestly be losing alot of money just on taxes alone. Its not a small piece of change that NY state tax!

I also went from an 07GS350 to an 07LS460 and I am in love. The LS is on another level. The ES, RX, and IS loaners are so noisy and harsh compared to the LS. It honestly feel like a totally different animal. Its large, insulating, powerful, comfortable, and very reliable. The build quality on my LS is better than the GS350 imho.

one word flagship!!!! cant compare because i didnt have 3gs but i can tell you, once you get in the ls you will feel like a boss!!! with the ear to ear grin. although not sporty the power is there buttery smooth gear changes. as far comparison i think there is none, totally different class, like comparing a e class to a s class.
