Oil Filter Housing
Ok guys, The housing is so tight that I cant get the POS off. I have broken one filter housing wrench, bought two new ones and still the damm thing wont come off. I have broken a piece of the housing and i thing its time to break everything off. I have a new housing ready to go one, the metal one and need input on the best way to break the cap off???????????Anyone run into this problem?

'O" ring in the designated slot in the housing.he installed it at the bottom of the housing.it took him over 100 ft-lbs of torque to tighten the housing enough to keep it from leaking.i needed a 2ft breaker bar and cup to remove it.

These must be properly torqued on installation. I believe the specs are on the new filter box and the canister itself. The best thing to do, as always, is DIY. This way you know it's done right. I doubt if any shops, including Lexus, torque them on. When I first bought my '11 CPO 460, the small cap was too tight to remove, so I just removed the canister itself. I talked to a Lexus tech about this, and he said most Lexus techs don't remove the little cap, just the canister, which is a little messy but more importantly to them, faster. That's what I do now.
