Lexus sunroof glass moulding
Good morning all,
I purchased a 2107 Certified Pre owned Lexus LS460 L and have been happy with the purchase. Wanted to reach out to the group to see if anyone has had any issues with the sunroof glass moulding cracking around the glass. The factory warranty ran out in May of this year and the vehicle only has 35000 miles.
I was told by the dealer that glass was not covered under the cpo warranty and the moulding is part of the glass. I reached out to Lexus and they offered to pay 50%.
I feel this should have been caught on the cpo inspection and Lexus should cover the repair. Has anyone else run into this issue? I am very happy with the car besides this and wanted to see if others have had the same problem.
Thanks

I am not sure if this is covered under CPO or not, but it is a problem with these cars. Is it just a cosmetic issue or is the sunroof actually leaking?
What I do know, is that the entire piece needs to be replaced, as you cannot replace just a gasket.
There are some threads in this LS sub-forum that discuss this issue. Do a search and see what you come up with.
BTW what does the 50% cover (how much would you still be out of pocket)?

If you bought the car after the factory warranty expired in May, then I really feel the CPO certification process should have spotted this issue and replaced the sunroof. But it looks that Lexus Corporate has decided that it will cover only 50%. That's too bad. Go back to Lexus and ask nicely whether you can talk to someone higher up the chain to authorize a free replacement. Good luck.

Thanks for the replies. 50% would be $478.00
the warranty expired in May but I thought it would be covered and waited until my first service to address it. I have reached back out to Lexus to see if they would rethink the offer.
will post what happens when they reply.

It is surprising that the repair cost is less than $1000.
