Default Brake pedal creaking noise... actuator or not??

I have searched and heard a lot about the brake actuator problems... but the noise i get is not a clicking noise.

My brakes have a noise when i press the brake all the way down and release it quickly... but its much more of a quick "scrubbing" noise... .almost a "creaking"... is this the brake actuator? or something else? i just recently got new pads and rotors at NTB... and the sound seems to have come after the install. i took it back in and they said they had no clue. Also , they did blead the brakes when they installed new pads and rotors... HELP?

the noise really only happens when the car is in gear lunging. In park it happens one in 10 times as opposed to every time in gear.

Most likely it is. One of the technician at my local dealer told me that Lexus is aware of all the weird noises coming from the actuator. So far they have no solution for it yet. our brake functions perfectly normal except for all the noises that we are hearing. I have also posted another thread regarding our brake a few days ago. I have had two actuators and a stroke simulator replaced but the noise can still be heard. The noise I am hearing is more like a clunk and thump noise. Whenever the car comes to a stop, if i let go of the brake and step on it immediately after i let it go I can hear a clunk or thump noise sometime I even feel the feedback coming from the brake pedal along with the noise. Its just really weird. The car has been at two dealers for over two weeks without any luck.

I guess my concern is that most people describe it as a clicking.. Whereas my noise is a quick creaking... Thoughts?

I have this same problem. When the peddle is pushed down and slightly nudged my brakes makes creaking sounds. First dealer said noise was normal because of the big brakes. Took it to another dealer, said actuators were bad so had it replaced and rotors turned with new pads. My car still makes this noise. Btw the 2011 hs loaner I got had the same brake noise problem so I dont know if this really is a normal brake noise.

My 2009 had the clicking noise but once the actuators were replaced the car was quiet. My 2011 was silent from the start. From this I don't think any unusual brake noise is "normal'

My 07 460 has been to the dealer twice now for noise coming from under the hood when pressing on the brakes. It first happened under warranty and they "Good-Willed" it the second time. The best description for it that I have read in these forums is a "squawk" or "bark" sound coming from under the hood when I press on the brakes when the car is at a complete stop. I noticed it most when pressing the brakes when starting my car in the garage in the morning. The sound was getting worst and I took my automatic setting for the park brake off hoping that it would slow down the problem.

The dealer has done a "special brake bleed" process both times. The service advisor said this was the first step in the procedure to see if the bleed process fixed it. This issue was gone for about 4K miles. So the second time around I asked why they were doing the same process when the issue came back (as verified by them). I got the "This is what the procedure says to do". So should I raise some Cain about this now or give it a chance? I feel justified in asking now what the second step is supposed to be.

This is very annoying knowing that we are driving a flagship of Lexus with all these different noises that we are hearing from our brakes but the dealers seems to have no solutions for. The only thing that they can do is replacing the actuator, if this failed there is no other solution for them. They would then proceed with telling their unhappy customers that it is normal. like i have mentioned before, my car was sitting at the dealers for over two weeks with 2-actuators and a stroke simulator replaced and noise is still there. The technician at Newport Lexus agreed with me that he can still hear the noise but there isn't anything else that he can do. There is just nothing else that he can replace or fix that would help with the noise. This is just insane. How can I or anyone take comfort on the dealers' words that the car is safe when you can hear all these weird noises coming from the brake area of the car? Especially, if you have two young kids age 3 and 5 riding in the back of the car.

The TSB on the Actuator issue states that it could be a clicking or popping noise when stopping OR a squawk/popping noise after stopping and then pressing down on the brake pedal. According to the diagnostic specialist at my dealer, it is important to perform a correct bleeding procedure, which is apparently a step by step time consuming process per Lexus requirements. Your issue may come from the fact that the brakes were not bled appropriately, especially if the sound wasn't there prior to the brake pads being replaced.

Having said all that, the actuator on my car was replaced, but the dealer actually had to put two actuators on it while it was in the shop because the first replacement was defective. As part of the actuator replacement, the brakes are bled per Lexus and MUST be done correct or weird sounds from the braking system will come back.

Hope this helps.

Default Brake bark again

Well, the issue with my brakes feeling spongy and making the sqawk/bark noise is back. I am really annoyed with this because when I brought it back the second time it should have been resolved. Now I feel I am going to get the run around from the dealer, because it's out of warranty a lot by time but not by mileage. I hope the fact that I can show that I brought it in during the warranty period originally will help. But they said something about a $118 diagnostic charge when I made the appointment. Which already is setting the stage. I hope I can get this resolved with the TSIB L-SB-0178-09 and the CSP paperwork in hand.

(Small rant) The most expensive car I own has this reoccurring brake issue. I have 60K miles on it. I have a old Ford truck and a Honda Pilot with more than twice the mileage but no issue with brakes, ever!

I have an 07 460L and I just got my car back from getting my brake booster and actuator replaced a few days ago. Prior to that I have the same noise coming from my actuator. My warning lights came on ie: abs, track control and brake malfunction, part of this is my fault for not getting it check when the warning lights came on. The warning lights would come on and a few days later it would go off. And then one day when driving home from work, my brakes went out, very firm, very hard brakes, very hard to get my car to stop. When that happened there was a constant beeping inside my car, couldn't figure what it was or where it was coming from. Anyways to make a long story short, they jump the code and found 8 codes and told me my brake booster needs to be replaced and after they replaced the booster, they could not erase one code. Turns out that my actuator was bad also, one of the valve in the actuator was bad. So I my car back and my brakes works very well, better than when I first bought the car and the noise is gone. Hope this help you in some sense.

I've had my 2013 GS350 for 4 weeks now and from the moment I drove from dealership to home I get a thump sound when I let off the brake pedal.. Everytime! I've been trying to let off the brake easily but it's a distraction. Should I bring it to dealer or just leave it alone? I'm afraid if I bring it to dealership the thump will get much louder.

No I didn't know that I was. I did a general search for brake noise that must be where it landed me. Sorry to intrude.

I hate to strike up an older thread, but I too am having this issue with my 2008 GS460. I'm not sure if the GS460 uses the same braking components as the LS460, but the symptoms noted in this thread seem to be on-par with the sounds I have been hearing from my brake actuator. I'd be curios to know if the TSB would apply to my car as well? I can't believe a vehicle this new with only 69k miles could have such an issue. It is possible that the brakes were bled improperly, as they were replaced not that long ago.

I had this same issue with my old 2007 GS350.
People at my local dealer could not come up with an answer at all.
I really hope they find out why.
