Default Am I Blind or....

I just bought a CPO LS460L. I just noticed that there are several spots on the hood where touch-up pain was used. Can these me masked by an experienced detailer? I rinsed and dried the car once and didn't notice it. I just noticed it when I washed the car with soap and waxed it. I would swear they were not visible until now or was I just blind in love?

thnx

i think if you posted up pictures here we could easily tell you if they were spots on the touched up with paint. if they are indeed touched up with paint - you might want to ask the dealer to have the hood re-sprayed.

Thanks. Actually out of town. No doubt, it was touched up in many spots.

I would have a professional detailer do a full wax and polish. They can usually do things to improve the appearance of these repaired areas. Go to a pro not the random guy they hired at the local car wash who will put swirls in the clear coat.

I agree. Under the CPO program, dealers will make an attempt to return a vehicle to "like new" condition. Sometimes, especially if the employee is less than conscientious, their correction efforts do not achieve the desired objective. The CPO warranty excludes paint defects but my dealer, in addition to the CPO warranty, provided me with an additional warranty which covered the first 90 days of ownership and included almost everything. I used that warranty to correct some previously "touched up" paint issues for which an employee was somewhat careless during the initial correction. You might want to express your disappointment to the dealer if the corrected areas bother you.

Thanks all. Shame on me for not noticing. I was just wondering if there was some kind of trickery that can mask this until my first wash.

Lexus paint is soft and prone to stone chips. You won't find a used Lexus without them. I have a bunch of touch up paint on my front end, many of them I put on myself , not pretty up close. Still better than rock chips.

Enjoy the car, drive it, and don't obsess.
