Tire comments please?
Ok, it's time for new tires for my 2008 LS460L, and I am caught between two different ways on getting this accomplished; here's my dilemma:
I have on the car now, the OEM Bridgestone Turanza "EL42" sized at 235/50R/18.
I was going to try out the Bridgestone Turanza "Serenity" that seem to be much better rated than the OEM.
But I have a brand new, never been used spare (born on 07/2008) in the trunk and it is the OEM Bridgestone Turanza "EL42.
Even though Bridgestone Turanza EL42 are more expensive ($280.00 each) compared to the Serenity ($244.00), it would be a net savings to buy 3-new EL42's, and use the EL42 spare as the fourth? and then take the best of the old EL42 tire as a spare?
Not including balancing, etc. the "EL42" tires are roughly 3 X $280.00=$840.00
Or do I just buy four (4) new Serenity ties, and keep the existing EL42 spare as the spare?
Not including balancing 4 Serenity x $244.00 each =$976.00
Any suggestions, opinions or recommendations are what you would do?

Do you experience any right side drift with the A/S Sport? It's been reported by some. The A/S Sport would be my first choice with Bridgestone Serenity 2nd.

I have a few thousand miles on my Serenity tires.. I wont be using anything else on this car as long as I own it.
Smoothest ride, great grip and very good in the rain... its a great tire for the LS460
No wear issues at all.. just perfect

I have the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S on my 2008 LS. I am very pleased with the wet and dry performance of these tires. They are a bit firmer than the OEM Bridgestone Turanza EL42's, but that does not bother me at all.
I have always has a slight pull to the right with the Michelins. After 10,000 miles and before a planned 4000 mile trip, I decided to have a 4 wheel alignment done at a very reputable shop with all the latest equipment. They performed the alignment in about an hour and test drove the car afterward - it still pulled to the right. They worked for another 1 1/2 hours trying to fix the issue. There was no alignment adjustment that they could make to eliminate the pull to the right. Finally after switching the tires around, they could make the car pull to the left. They concluded the problem was in the design of the unidirectional tires.
I now have 15,000 miles on the tires and they have hardly any wear. I am not happy about the pull to the right, but have decided that I can live with it until I need the next set of tires.

I'm close to needing tires too, and with this deal I may pull the trigger now instead of waiting: Costco coupon book (ends 9/11) has $70 off any set of 4 Bridgestone Tires. Theirs include nitrogen fill, balancing and road hazard, for $894 plus your state's sales tax (if any).
Dont forget to add the TPMS/installation

they dont make the pilot super sports in any other width's in a 50 series tire...225 is only 10mm. i'd rather be 10mm narrower than 10mm lower (rougher ride) i've already dropped it 2"+ so its not the super smooth oem ride quality when i'm ready for wider i'll go 22" staggered an throw ride quality out the window..

I'll have to inquire if that is an extra charge or included in Costco's standard installation charge; does anyone know? I guess I figured they would just reuse the TPMS modules already there.
My "problem" now is that Lexus had installed two new EL42's during the certification process prior to my purchase and those still have good tread. So to switch to the Serenity's I'll feel like I'm being wasteful replacing all four, but I don't like the idea of mixing tire types, only get the $70 off when buying a set of four, and don't particularly care for the ride of the EL42 tires. Decisions. Decisions.
