"parking brake not available..check parking brake system..have car checked by dealer"
today I went out to my garage to start my Lexus and it was dead. completely dead.
no lights. no electronics. no nothing.
it ran fine yesterday. weird, but I figured I'd try the battery first. Unfortunately I have a small single car garage and in order to jump the battery I needed to roll the car out, but in order to do that I had to disengage the shiftlock and manually disengage the parking brake through the trunk.
after that I got the car rolled out and jumped (though it took an unusually long time hooked up to the cables to get it to finally start... 5 minutes or so)
the car ran fine after that and now that I've got it back home I've restarted it a couple times and it starts fine... we'll see how that goes.
however since I got it recranked for the first time I've had an error on the system screen. the red light that says "PARK" is blinking on the dash, the exclamation point system error light is on and it reads "Parking Brake is Unavailable" when I try to engage the parking brake and "Check Parking Brake System...Have Car Checked at a Dealer" at all other times.
I tried to do the reverse of the instructions for manually disengaging the brake... but the errors are still there and the brake won't engage.
I'd really rather not have to take it to the dealer if I can fix it myself... anybody know anything about this?

ugh.
just found this:
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls4...ake-reset.html
I have this creeping feeling that this is going to cost me an arm and a leg... I'm way out of warranty and over 100K miles.
