Default Reasons For Removing Copy-Music Function On 2010 LS??

As I couldn't find that function on facelifted LS anymore, I found it very inconvenient about the audio quality. I really don't like the new music-from- bluetooth function and the USB mode as well, the sound is very poor. Do you guys think so? Any possible reasons?

They need the additional HDD space for the Gen 6 navigation. There is more storage required for the new system features including what's stored for Lexus Insider, XM data, new POI and map data, etc. Plus with the new USB connector Lexus figured that most people would use an MP3 player or flash drive instead.
That's what I heard anyway.

Surely they can put in a larger HDD!

I have an earlier LS - with all of my CDs loaded onto the harddrive. I also have most of them loaded on my phone - which I use when I rent a car that supports bluetooth or USB.

Compared to my LS with music on the HDD - the user interface on the rental cars with BT or USB connections is much, much poorer because those systems only look at folders and file names - and don't have access to the Gracenote (CDDB) database with information on the albums & groups - and browsing the music library also seems much slower.

If Lexus can provide comparable functionality with a USB or BT device - then that's OK - especially if that eliminates the artificial limitation about loading music only from audio CDs. Though I probably wouldn't rely on using my phone for the music library and would instead permanently connect a USB device (and remove it only when loading new music).

Now, if we could only get a way to have the nav system access the Internet - and provide up-to-date maps and "Google earth" functionality... Paying $200-300 every year to buy 2 year old maps needs to be fixed - except for the integration into the car and the larger display - my Android phone has more accurate navigation data, including free "real-time" traffic!

@bobp: I agree with you, they can put in larger HDDs in order not to lower the sound quality, I'm really down on the BT and USB music connection on the 2010. Maybe we need to wait 'til LS500 to see real improvements.
