Will your cell phone drain the key fob battery ??
Hey guys I was wanting to ask if anyone has noticed that the battery in the key fob dies quickly. I have replaced mine in my car 3 times in the last 7 month because the car will say key not detected while the key are in the cup holder. As soon as I replace the battery it stops and you can tell the keyless entry system becomes very sensitive again. When I bought new batteries from the Lexus service dept yesterday the guy there told me that if you cell phone sits directly next to the key fob it can drain the battery. He said that the fob will go into a sleep mode to preserve the battery but when the cell phone is right netxt to it it drains it. Sounds weird. Anyone have any info on this.
PS My phone sits about 3 mm from my key in my brief case

id never heard that and my fob stays in my pocket right next to my phone. My battery lasted a full year before change, although I hardly ever, ever use the buttons. I lock and unlock the door with the door handle. Maybe its the battery theyre selling? I just bought an energizer which is the same thing that was in there..

It does in the older LS smartkeys... it's actually in the owners manual (may be there on yours as well).

Sounds accurate because of how sensitive the keyless entry gets and it instantly stops the "key not detected" message while the keys are in the cup holder. I will admit that even when my keys are sitting in the cup holder that the cell phone sits on top of it. Even in my briefcase they sit in adjacent pockets. I have noticed that sometimes I have to pull the door handle once and then it opens on the second attempt. I hope this works.
PS Make sure to pick up extra batteries from the dealership if you can. I went to best buy, target, and walmart and nobody had model# 1632. It seems like its a dealer only battery. They were a pain to find outside of the dealership

This hasn't happened to me yet but I keep my iPhone and key away from each other ( in different pockets) but I just bought to new key fobs ( from eBay) and I'm going to program them this week and I was wondering if there is a way to tell if they are like the old model keys with this distinction or like the newer keys?

Now I am totally convinced. I put in a fresh battery two months ago and it throwing the key not detected warning already. I guess I have to remember to keep the keys and phone away from each other. This is getting a bit annoying . You'd figure with every Lexus owner having a phone most likely they would have gotten past this issue. I'm going to stop by the dealership and buy a bunch more

We had the same issue with a Lexus "smart card" My wife carried the smart card in her iPhone holster next to her iphone 24/7. In less than 2 weeks the battery in the smart card goes dead.

Its frustrating . I bought like 4 batteries about a year and half ago and they have all crapped out. Its embarrassing when you walk up to a high end luxury car and yank on the door ad it doesnt open. Makes you look like you are trying to jack the car or you just dont know how to operate your car

Can't beat this deal - 5 batteries for $5.27 with free shipping.
What model years provided the key fob and the key card?
My pre-owned 2007 came with just two fobs.

Smart key batteries
Have not experienced this in my 2012. Previously owned a 2010 and this would happen sometimes and not others. Finally, I took note, that this only happened on my property. Whenever I was gone from home this never happened. In my case I believe something in the area of where I lived was affecting the signal between the smart key and the starter push button.
