Just picked up a 2008 Lexus LS 460L at auction. Going to fly and pick it up Early next week and drive the 14 hours home. The car is pretty much loaded and has the ML audio system in it. I know this has ipod/mp3 player connectivity but I was wondering what connections it has so I can bring the right cable with me for the long drive back home?

The other questions I had was I will be inspecting/driving the car before signing all the final paperwork. Any areas I should play close attention to? Before my 14 hour drive back home I figured I would check tire pressure, oil level, trans fluid level, and coolant level. Anything else I should check before driving back?

3.5 stereo mini plug in the center console is where the IPod plugs in. there is also a power outlet plug there also so any of the Belkin, Griffin or Monster adapters that give you a stereo mini output and a cigarette lighter type of power plug will allow you to connect your IPod for the journey. There are better ways of hooking this up when you get home, but this should be easy to find and adequate for your drive home.

I am looking forward to comparing it with my Audi. I know at least it wont need to go to the dealer for a $$$$ in repairs every year. Thanks for your quick answer on the audio question. How is the better ways?

Congratulations! Hope it meets your expectations. Your pre-flight check covers the important items. I would also accelerate briskly after the engine is warm and see how smooth the transmission shifts and then after you stop, exit the vehicle while idling and listen for anything unusual. Perhaps the other guys could offer some tips. Good luck.

I am also considering purchasing an 09 Lexus Ls460 L.. but first need to find one, my local dealers do not have any . I am unfimiliar with auctions, but heard they are great ways to buy cars. To all Ls460 owners, what is it like driving the Ls and was it worth the investment? Thanks in advance

It is greatly worth the investment. My word of advice however, if your driving home late night in an LS+adaptive cruise you will fall asleep. the car basically drives itself and the ride is so amazing you feel like you are in you bed. I had the ls600 and the performance is amazing and I dont think the 460 is too far off.

Thanks for the quick reply.. that defenitly makes me want it 10 x more but I see your name is LXurious and I know that the ls and lx are completely different in size and everything.. but my wife is also telling me that we need an suv for the kids and is saying she thinks the lx would be great. Do u own a 2008 or newer lx570? I want to give her an answer from an actual owner !!! Thanks

ah crap I see it is an 06 which is still great but I was looking to get into something newer

Yeah the LS and LX were 2 different vehicles but still Lexus top 2 vehicles and worth every penny. I havent driven the newer ones but appearance wise I like the pre-08 models. If you have 2 kids then the new GX would be a good alternative the 570 if you have a big family and take frequent long trips other than that i dont see a justification in the price for what your getting.

thanks LXurious, I do only have to kids, but I have considered the new GX and I just think it looks way too toyotaish. I have been trying to find a first generation Gx as those are the ones I really like the best!!
