Default UPDATE: Hmmm, so no TSIB's after 50k?

So I took my car in yesterday (07 LS460L) for my 50k scheduled maintenance, Nav update, and the seat TSIB's. I had lower back surgery in August, so this is something that I really feel is 100% necessary as I can use all the support and comfortability available to me.

They called me today and said they won't do the TSIB for the seats ... I JUST broke 50k, I'm at 51k miles.

I have owned a Lexus since '97 and have been with the same Lexus dealership for the entire relationship. I am pretty shocked about the treatment they are giving me and I let them know my frustration.

Is there anything I can do about this?

tsib is only for cars under warranty, so yes, on paper they can't perform it

but it's also up to dealership goodwill. maybe you can try talk to the service manager, or maybe contact lexus customer service and told them your situation and see if they can apply special treatment

Thanks for the input ... I contacted CS and let them know the situation, said I should receive a call within 2 business days.

I've read from several on the site that the seats are much more comfortable after the TSIB, so hopefully they will make an exception for this given the situation.

I guess I should of took the car in at 49,999 lol, just figured I would do it all at once with the 50k scheduled maintenance.

They get like that when it comes to warranty work. BTW I had mine done recently and it has improved comfort 80%.

aren't there some TSBs for the transmission or something, based on the valve spring recall, powertrain warranty was extended to 100K miles, so would any of those related TSBs be covered based on that, or is it just basic 50K warranty and end of discussion?

tsb = technical service bulletin
cpo is like extended warranty. Not everything is covered (like seats/air vent etc)...so it really up to the dealer. factory warranty cover everything 100% (except wear/tear items) so it's the best bet.

UPDATE: I received a call today from Lexus notifying me that they will be performing the seat TSIB as well as the passenger side pillar (I already had driver side done).

This was EXTREMELY fast customer service. GREATLY APPRECIATED!

* Yes, I bought my car last summer CPO, so I thought I was covered, but once you hit 50k apparently you aren't.

I posted about a similar experience here, my dash was rattling and the CPO warranty doesn't cover the dashboard (even though they had a TSIB addressing this problem).

This is why I suggest to people considering an '07 to buy an '08-'09 instead, since they will have a bunch of the little first-year bugs worked out. And if you ask me, it's a little ridiculous that a car this expensive with the best warranty they will sell you doesn't cover all known issues for the entire term of the CPO warranty.
