My car has 66,000 miles and is out of warranty. Is United Radio still the best bet as far as getting the problem fixed, aside from the dealer? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. THanks.
Yes they are Mark Levinson authorized service repair.

Interesting. Do you think I would have a leg to stand on if I didn't purchase the car new from them? I bought if from a friend of mine. Thanks for your input.

Default Update

Just hung up with United Radio and am quite impressed. Depending on the serial number the cost to fix will be up to $700 and a turn around time of 24-48 hours once UR has received the amp.

I also spoke with Lexus here in town and it will be $60 to diagnose the problem and $1250 for the part (refurbished) or up to $3000 for a new one. Guess I'll be going and trying to find the amp in the trunk. I tried to locate the fuse up under the glove box but couldn't get up under there good enough.

Just thought I would update ya'll..

I am new to the forum. Really appreciate the ML amp repair info. I've been trying to find someone locally for the past couple of months.

They should have. Mine started chirping at 52k in my 07L. I recently had mine repaired through United Radio with about a day turn around. The repair has a year warranty, but I did ask the tech if any or their "repaired" amps has return, and he stated none. Hopefully this fix is permanent.

Try 23K miles on a 2004 LS430 with UL and ML sound system ...no audio. Car garaged it's entire life in PNW. Just purchased car and looking at the best options to fix. Great thread.

Mine went bad at around 73k, but now all the problems have been address....control arms... brake acutator, transmission remap and now the amp. I have a spend sensor in the left front to swap before winter.

I paid $700 plus shipping to them for the amp repair about 6 months ago...my LS is 08 so it's way out of warranty. oh well...gotta pay to play. Lexus is actually very cheap if you're compare to other toys like Lambo/Ferrari.

I have a question regarding the Mark Levinson Premium 19 speaker system in my 2010 LS 460L. When you access the audio page on the touch screen it shows the surround sound indicator symbol in the lower right side of the screen. Does this symbol turn green or does the bar light up when the surround sound system is on/working? The reason I ask is the Air Purifier symbol lights up but the surround sound symbol does not is that normal? I now know where the amp is in the trunk but is there a trick to getting that compartment open? Is there a special tool needed to get that screw or what ever it is out?

Thumbs up Mark Levinson amp replacement

Got the United Radio info off this forum as a guest about 3 months ago. Was quoted 1600 to replace my amp and took a chance and contacted United Radio. Great customer service, got immediate shipping instructions (quicker than i could get amp out of trunk), shipped amp UPS and got contacted within 48 hours with repair cost (little over $700) and 24 hr turnaround. Received amp back 3 days later and reinstalled. Has worked great. What a great company to work with.

I just wanted to let everyone know to NOT SEND your amp to Short Circuit Repair in San Jose CA. They told me through email that they could fix the amp for up to $500. I overnighted my amp to them to look at because of the price I was quoted. Once they received my amp and took it apart to inspect I was told it would be a $900 repair and it would take over a week to fix. I will be sending my amp to United Radio.

What were the symptoms that led you to believe your amp was out? I have a Mark Levinson system and there's a crackling sound coming from the speakers even when the radio is off, it doesn't happen every time, but often enough to an annoyance.

no symptoms. radio was playing like normal then all the sudden the music stopped and the "chirping" started. it will chirp with the radio on or off. there is a junction box in the passenger side leg area that i removed a fuse to shut the chirping off.
