I'm not sure if anyone is interested, but i downloaded the lexus manuals for my car and combined them in a manner to allow them to be displayed on my iphone 4 with the ibook app. They will work on an ipad also.

I got the idea after reading that the new equiss will have their manuals on an ipad.

If anyone wants them i can email you them or if there is any interest i think i can post them on this site.

I eventually will put in links (page jumps) where applicable, but for now i want to see if they are usefull. Pretty small on the iphone.

I think it's great that you have done that and it will definitely be useful if you could post it here. Otherwise, you'll constantly be asked to email it.

If you paid for that download, and publish them here, you might draw some flack from Lexus, let alone from Admin in here, as you might be violating publishing rights. I think your rights are limited to personal use, not public distribution.

You can download the whole manual in pdf format from the Lexus Drivers web site for free.

Correct - sort of!

If you go to the Lexus Drivers web site and locate the manuals you will be presented with a large number pdf files collectively comprising the manual. The users manual has some 50 separate files. Last year I downloaded these, determined their order in the manual then merged them one by one into a complete manual - ~40 MB in all. The links in the pdfs don't work (nowhere to go is guess) so I also defined links for the TOC only. With the help of jstjohnz (Jim) I got a utility to break the manual into emailable chuncks to send to him. Check this thread for details:

I have no idea why Lexus doesn't want to post the full users manual (also navigation and maintance manuals) for access. If anyone has found one please let me know.

the manuals are free and I'm sure if you want to, you can download the separate pdf file yourselves. All i did was combine them in the following:

1) navigation manual
2) general manual
3) maintenance manual
4) quick guide manual

i can't believe Lexus would have a question about me doing this. its not like its trade secrets regarding the inner design of the thing. Its just user manuals.

creating the links will be a process - i have adobe acrobat and will do the links when i get a chance.

problem with the iphone is that the screen is small and I'm not sure these pdfs will be great for reference. the ipad i can see, but the iphone is a question.

How do the pages turn out detail-wise when you zoom in on your iPhone?

They are perfect when zoomed in. Problem on the iPhone is that you have to zoom in on every page.

On my pc with it's 24 inch screen - no need to zoom in. I assume that on an iPad it would be pretty good too.

The iPhone pdfs really need jumps.
