If you are going to take the fins off, you might as well complete the job. It's rather simple. I did the full job and a friend mentioned "boy this is a quiet car" without knowing anything about the "fix".

See the other thread... The general thing says it does and helps push air away from the car helping in the noise, it was re-designed in the newer cars but, this will fit back to 2007...

If you see my last post in that thread, I added a link where you can buy them for $11.29 each ($4 paypal charge and $13 shipping to the US) but, both for $37 shiipped.

It should work as well, I would put some sealant before mounting the newer one just to make sure it's sealed.

i just wanted t take an opportunity to thank and give a big shout out to JMcraney and his wind noise fix. i PM'd him about my 2010 LS 460L. being a noob I was nervous about attempting the fix. he immediate sent me 2 patches and told me the glue to buy. i followed his directions (easy). I had a 2 hour ride today and there is a significant change in the quietness of the car, I notice it mostly when cars pass by, I can barley hear them now. i'd like to publicly thank Jeff for his help. In this crazy world of ours its very refreshing interacting with someone just wants to help you without expecting anything in return, Again Jeff, a thousand thanks and thanks for being one of the good guys.

I swore on a stack of Lexus Owner's manuals that I would stop commenting on this issue. Over the past 10 years I have had a lot to say about the "wind noise" that plagues some of the Lexus automobiles and I expect some are tired of hearing from me on this, so I hope I will once again receive the gracious tolerance from those who have heard all this before.

This is a forum for LS460s and LS600s. I don't have any knowledge about ES350 wind noise issues so I can only advise you in broad terms.

If you have read this thread you will understand that the noise problem that affected many of the LS460/600 was caused by a trim defect, and that Lexus never dealt with this effectively. Even though the title of this thread uses the term "Wind Noise," it was a problem of reduced isolation of sounds outside the car as they were heard inside the car. In cars that are well designed and in good order, sounds that originate outside are much reduced in volume when you hear them inside the car.

A Google search of "Lexus ES350 wind noise" brings up several results and a quick read sounds very much like what was reported by LS460/600 owners. Here are some links to a few relative comments and discussions:

It is noteworthy, in the ES comments, that there was no help from Lexus and that many of the cars didn't have a problem.

I looked at pictures of the ESs on the Internet and the front door design seems very much like the LSs, with the triangle trim at the front corners of the door windows. It seems to me that the likely cause of noise in these cars would be related to that trim being detached.

I can't tell you how to fix your car without looking at it. But I can offer some suggestions as to how you might get some relief.

Just replacing the trim pieces with new parts might solve the problem. The parts are available for about $20 each. It depends on why the parts are detached as to whether replacement will give a durable repair. On some of the LSs, replacement of the parts would never fix the problem because surface misalignments would never allow the parts to adhere and a more aggressive repair, like I detailed, was required.

Another approach to consider would be to take the instructions for the LS Wind Noise repair to a collision-repair business and ask them to repair your car in a similar manner. I don't think that would cost very much.

I hope you find some relief. I know from experience that the noise can be horrific and intolerable.

I am struggling to print the template to scale. Is there anyway i can get a PDF file that is to scale and ready to print? Thank you in advance

save the image of the template to a file. use a program that can open, display, and print that file type, and print it with the scale factor set for 100%. use a dial or digital caliber to measure the "inch" marks, and take the ration of 100/(measurement), so if the measurement was 0.75", you would take 100/0.75 = 133.33 ... so print it again, but this time set the scale factor to 133%

this new print should have 1" per inch scale of those marks.

My 2016 has a different outside tab similar to BMW, that is how Lexus fix the problem, call your dealer and ask him if that part could be purchased.

Assuming you tried that and it did not fix your problem, then Lexus probably did a more complex redesign since my 2016 is absolutely wind noise free.

Many older ones are wind noise free too. It has to do with how the part is installed not the part itself.
