Cool PICTURE: De-badged Smokey Granite

Lexus and LS460 badges removed, Lexus L kept because there is a detent for it, but I had it body colored. Chrome on car (except for side window garnishes and grill) are also body color.

Plan to paint entire grille body color and then car will be complete.

Great minds think alike. However, people have their own preferences and it is probably not likely that those whose preference is a de-badged LS can be swayed.

Default Personal preference

From paint to wheels, on my car, it is a matter of personal taste, and for me, practicality. As soon as the snow leaves, pot holes and ruts make us suffer in the streets, and 22+ inch wheels would soon suffer countless damages. I lost 2 STOCK 17s to a freeway pot hole on my GS years ago. If those were $2000+ wheels, I'd have a bad day.

As for the paint job, I have the work done the same place my friend takes his Lamborghinis for touch ups (Ohio roads are pretty rough on exotics.) I'm even scared to lower my LS460 in fear of the pot holes and such. The finish on my normally unpainted trim is the same thick, deep finish as the rest of the car. It doesn't look like overspray or an accident.

Brothers, the German car makes have been doing this since the early 80s, especially Mercedes' AMG division and BMW's M division. They painted the emblems, and pretty much everything, body color.

In the 90s, they offered badge delete as an option on even non performance models.

2000 - on, the highest end models come with no nomenclature at all. Just symbols. For example, AMG black editions paint everything, well, black.

My friend's 911 turbo and my Mom's Cayenne both have no mention of Porsche except for the shield on the hood. You won't see the name anywhere else. And that's from the factory. The 911 has the shield on the front, "turbo" on the back. And that's it.

Even for our cars, as far as I know Lexus is due to discontinue the "Lexus" name badge on the back.

So while its a matter of taste, I don't feel like I'm totally wacky and without precedent.

They already have; no "Lexus" name on back of the 2011 LS, just the L logo and LS 460

I took the one badge off the vehicle "IS 250" and now two little holes are visible...I'm wondering if that'll give me problems down the road if water goes in, etc? I really prefer all my cars to be de-badged.

Same... I too removed the Lexus and LS460 badges and left the L because it was recessed.

It would be great to find a simple replacement emblem on the trunk... Anyone know where to buy something like this?

Also really like your idea of painting the front grill body color. But I've got the radar emblem so I think I'm stuck with the L on the front.

I know on my 3GS there Is holes. Both under the Lexus and the GS430 emblems. Even the L in the middle has two small holes. Good luck.

I wouldn't like having 2 holes. I'd put my badge back on. Holes look ghetto.
