Question about 20s or 22s
I want new wheels but need some info. I like the look of 22s but I am afraid of pot holes and the ride, more so the ride. Therefore, 20s would be best but if someone who has had both 22s and 20s on their LS460L, please provide me with your opinions.
There is the additional cost of 22s over 20s. I don't think I persuade my wife in buying 22s but if the price is right and it looks good, well of course then.
If you respond, please post your car with your wheels. Seeing is believing!
Thanks in advance,
Mike The Realtor

mike, i doubt someone here has had both 20s and 22s. but i can give you some insight since i have driven ls460 with stock 18s, 19s, aftermarket 20s, and mine with 22s.
22s will be significantly more expensive in most cases, especially when you take tires into consideration as well. ride will be affected for sure as well to some degree, and like you said, the changes of bending the wheels.
it looks far better of course imho, but on the safety side, 20s might make more sense especially if you use the car to drive people around

I am running 22"'s, have had them on for about 6 months now. I can say that there is a difference in ride quality, but it is not enough to make me feel like I 'ruined' the car.
I think they look sooooo great tho, and quite honestly they have helped me drive slower and pay way more attention to potholes and other defects in the road. I also wash the car a lot more often now too.
After a while, tho I have been thinking that with this particular wheel (Vossen VVS-083) there is an optical illusion due to the lip that makes the wheel look bigger than it is, so I would probably be satisfied with 20" in this style and I think the ride would be just as good as stock, and the meat on the tires wouldnt look quite as frail as it does now...
I am still seriously considering changing from my staggered wheel width (9" front and 10" rear) to 9" wide on both front and rear, just so that it doesnt grab the ruts on I-5 quite as much, and so that I could at least rotate the tires on each side. (right now there is one designated tire per corner - no rotating at all).
Here is a pic - sorry the car is dirty, still raining here in Oregon.

p.s. anyone buying these in the near future - PM me and we can talk trade!
