Default Question I have regarding the LS460 (SWB vs. LWB)

Hello all,

On Feb. 12th of this year I totaled my 2004 LS430 (other parties fault), which is posted in the LS430 section. I've been looking at a replacement car and of course first on my list is the LS460. I'm also looking at the S550's as well, but I'm partial to the Lexus. I don't know very much about the LS460's and was wondering if anyone can fill me in on exactly what options come with the LS460 as opposed to the LS460L. I'm aware that the 460L has a longer wheel base. Thank you CL for any and all information.

IMO For $10k extra you get more roon in the back seat -- virtually nothing else.

But the air suspension, rear seat upgrade (recline, etc) are not an option in the SWB right? Another thing I've noticed is that the SWB doesn't have the option for the Executive Package. I've done some research but, I don't know how reliable the air suspension is and besides what I just named are there any options that come in the LWB and not the SWB. For all I know I may be wrong about the options that I've listed just now and may actually be an option for the SWB as well.

I'm basically looking for a 2007, 2008, or 2009 model. I just want to get some opinions of other LS460 and LS460l owners out there in the CL community.

With the L version you have the following options:
- a 9" rear seat entertainment screen with a remote control
- rear window sunshades
- control buttons on the armrest (ac, radio, side-sunshades)
- standard heated/cooled rear seats (you can have it on swb with Comfort Plus package)
- rear seat air purifier
- rear seat cool box
- rear seat airbags
- about 12cm extra space in the rear seats + trunk (not sure as I can't recall the exact number)
- radar-based cruise control & pre-collision system (I guess it's an option on the swb though never seen it anywhere during my hunt for a used swb 460).

You can consult Lexus official website for the available options, though a few things have changed in the '10 model and not sure if you can find '07-'09 options anywhere on the interweb.

Good luck!

Air suspension was only available in US on the LWB, but now available with the LS 460 AWD and 460 L AWD; also, the LS 460 Sport which is only SWB comes with a sport-tuned air suspension.

Exec package is LWB only, need that extra space for the barcalounger. Reclining seats are available outside the Exec package (less recline and no footrest) on both SWB and LWB. Since '10 there is the vibrating massage feature on both.

The Pre-Collision System with the radar cruise control was not included in the L model (at least not in 2007). It was a separate option for about $2800 on both models.

One reason you will not see many with this option was Lexus did not equip either model with it if the vehicle was destined for a snow belt state. It had to be specially ordered if you wanted it there.
