Default What parts are needed for a brake job?

Searched and didn't find a topic that really broke this down.

I don't have the time or a warm garage to swap pads and rotors on my 2012 - I've bought:

4 new Centric rotors
4 sets of Centric
Centric (117.44085) Disc Brake Hardware Kit (
Amazon Amazon
)

And am going to have a local indy mechanic do the swap. Is there anything hardware he would need before he starts? I'd hate for him to get up it up on the lift and find something missing.

Thanks!

FYI the front Centric premium pads are on clearance at Tire Rack now @ $15:

You are good to go. However, there are some consumables (grease for pins, brake cleaning fluid, rugs, wire brush, anti-seize etc) involved but repair shops supply those.

Unless some of the rubber bits are damaged you're set.

I just changed the rotors and brake pads for my 2016 LS460 SWB. They were down to 4mm. I used Centric premium rotors and OEM pads since I want to transfer old shim kits to new pads. Just want to share issue that I experienced with removing the rear rotors. They were stuck really good and I had to use 2 M8 bolts to remove the rotors and the stupid parking brake pin holder springs fell off on both sides. I did disengage the parking brake before I attempt to remove the rotors. These nail pins like to fall off the holes if you aren't carefully and I had to use a small plier to put them back on. The pin holder springs are compressed so I had to use two small zip ties to compress them then put the top back on. Another tip is to use two big flat screw drivers to push the pistons back in with the old pads. I spent almost 4 hours to work on 4 corners and bled the fluid as well using a bottle bleeder that I bought from Amazon. I also cleaned the springs, pins, clip well with brake cleaner and used a lot of brake silicon grease on the shim kits.

After putting everything back, I took it out and broke in the pads. Everything was good except the rear passenger side. I got a hissing sound every time I stepped on the brake from that side. Turned out the rubber boots was out of the piston's groove. I had to push the piston out and fixed the boot, bled the brake again from that corner.

I had no issues changing rear brakes. I too had to use bolts to remove rear rotors.

I usually push pistons by hand or use a special tool to do that. But using old pads with a large flat screw drives works as well.

I got an unexpected surprise. When I removed the right rear rotor a portion of the parking brake shoe lining fell to the floor…as crumbs, chunks and dust!
