more like downhill with a reset on the mpg gauge

I have taken pics like as well. Just reset the mpgs while on the highway and watch it climb. If you average in any sort of street driving it will kill the mpgs.

I am usually 27mpg highway and 19 street and 20 mixed. I also have Michelin Pilot sports 2 with tires that are 6 sizes wider in the rear and 2 sizes wider in the front with wheels that are 4" larger in diameter

I've kept track of MPG ever since I've owned my '08, the 'old' way with calculator at fillups. Mostly just to monitor engine performance. If the mileage suddenly sags I know I've got a pending problem.

Anyway the city driving is always 19 to 20.
Highway driving with cruise control at ~75 to 80 is 28 to 30.
If I keep the speed down to less than 75, it'll get 30 to 33.
Over 600 miles on one tank.
I think this is really incredible for a car this heavy.

I normally get with my 2009 LS460 SWB about 20 - City and 28-30 - Highway. As everyone has stated that is quite impressive for a car with so much weight. I love it..

OK, this thread reminded me of something I read about 50 years ago. So no one here gets upset, I am not referring to any post on this thread, it just reminded me of this article.

As a teenager I regularly read a now defunct publication called Mechanix Illustrated. One of their columnists was Tom McCahill. He had a Q&A column each month. I remember once in answer to a question he wrote something like "even the most honest men in the world will lie through their teeth when it comes to telling you what mileage they got with their car".

Now obviously that is not a direct quote as it is from memory, but it is pretty close, and I think it is still pretty accurate!

agreed my 460 does 27-31 hwy.. on average (as i drive later at night or super early i can set the cruise about 85+mph due to less traffic an less leo's) but on my last trip to NC(thanksgiving eve 2012)i averaged 90mph... and still never went under 28mpg.....

Also...to add if anyone has went to Autozone, Pep Boys, or Advance Auto to buy a fuel additive called Turbo 108 it costs about $10 and helps boost your octane levels in the gas when you fill up. I've been using it for years and its been great!! Just put some in your tank when you fill up and you can tell the difference when you step on it..just my .02. I hope this helps someone who has a lead foot like me.

Thumbs up

Just completed a road trip from Calgary to Edmonton (approx 300 km or 180 miles one way). Had my family with me, trunk loaded with suitcases. Reset the fuel consumption computer gauge and watched it start high then go down. On the up trip and return trip I averaged 7.9-8.1litre/100 km. used the cruise control set at 119 kph (71 mph) for the majority of the trip.

The translates to 29 to 29.78 US mpg or 34.87-35.76 imp mpg.

Crazy mileage for a vehicle this big and comfy!

In town, 15-20mpg depending on how gentle I drive. On the highway, its speed dependent - 30mpg at a steady 60, 28mpg at a steady 70 and 25mpg at 80-85. That's on premium gas.
