Default Brake Pad Separation

Recently I noticed a grinding noise near the end of a 4 hour trip from Atlanta to Charlotte. After I arrived at my destination I found that I was digging a groove in my front driver's side rotor. With only 16,xxx miles on the car, I knew this wasn't good.

I called the local dealer in Charlotte and was able to take the car in and receive a loaner late afternoon on a Monday. My SA called me on Tuesday to say that my brake pad material had separated from the metal and was missing. Bad news was that they had to order the pads and rotors for the repair as they did not stock the touring size parts.

FYI for all you touring package owners, plan a few extra days when getting your brakes done. I for one packed for a 2 day trip that went 4 days. Yikes!
