If the dollar keeps plummeting in value, the price may go UP 9k.

Over my lifetime of purchasing cars I have found car salesmen to be the least reliable and least knowledgeable source of information about their own cars. I think that has been documented here and on other car brand forums countless times.

he is probably referring to what happened on the ES. the base price of the ES went up by $300 dollars, but now leather is standard instead of optional. As a total package, the entire car is cheaper than it was last year because more things are standard.

I dont see the car getting dropped back down 9K. that means that a SWB would be in the 50s? that doesnt sound like an S class competitor to me, more like a genesis.

My guess is that IF there is a problem moving the LS metal, Toyota would do subsidized leasing. Sure, it's an effective price cut, but it's a way to do it without cutting the official price. That's what BMW did with the 7 series as sales tailed off.

We just trade in our (01) Mercedes SL500 for the 2010 RX450h this week. I am going to trade in my (03) BMW 745Li for a 2010 LS460L when it arrive end of Oct, 09. My sales-woman did mention the same thing about a price drop on the MSRP for the 2010 LS460 model. She did not say why, but I am guessing that since BMW has surpass Lexus in overall sales for the first time in the last 9 years, it would make sense for Lexus to cut price in order to increase sales. Reason is Lexus price has got up over the years and catching up with the BMW. The sales guy at BMW is still trying very hard to sell me the new 09 750Li with huge price cut. But I am leaning more towards the LS460L. The BMW 7 series is a great performance car, but the reliability is way too low. Hope this help for those who are looking to buy the 2010 LS460L

Another guess of mine is that IF there is truly a big price cut, they'll also cut standard equipment and the dealer markup (leaving less room for the dealer to cut the price to us). The effective true price cut probably won't be much.

I could be wrong...once I thought I was wrong but it turns out that I was mistaken!

I tend to agree that Lexus might drop the base price for marketing purposes, but at the same time takeout standard features and make them as options. They did this in 08 & 09for IS350 to adjust for the $/yen devaluation.

FWIW, my sales person is constantly calling my office and leaving messages for us to visit and trade-in our 07 RX & L460L..... supposedly the dealership is making "good deals" LOL.

I did go and look at the 2010 750iL, a beautiful car but reliability is a big issue in my mind; atleast for the first production year.

if they lower the base msrp and raise the number of options, etc... i think that's possible. but i guess overall price of similarly equipped cars will be about the same, or a bit more

I hope the lower the dealer invoice price as well. Its always a good practice to negotiate starting at the invoice price. The last Lexus LS400 I purchased before BMW 745Li was $500 over invoice.

the price of LX570 dropped by approx 3K. some stuff were made standard, others have been bunched together as Value pks just like they did on Toyotas.
pretty interesting.
Loaded LX without RSES but With ML is now 80340. Does include loads of cameras.
