Default Inside Data on 2010 LS ?

I recently met with my local Lexus Dealer Owner friend, and he gave me a few tidbits. He in turn , had just recently had lunch with the N.A. Sales Director based out of Corporate, here in California.
The 2010 LS will supposedly have the mild Nose and Tail Lamp assembly workover that we all have previously discussed. In addition, the Interior Console areas will have more Wood and Metal Trim/Piping, ala MBZ. There was some discussion on their implementing the new Jog Input Device for Data Entry that is now standard on the new RX etc. It was not clear whether that change over was to be on the first new 2010 release or a mid cycle change.
In addition thare will be an LS Sport that has larger and different wheels than the new standard, and it will have new Brembo Brakes/ Drilled Rotors as well. I'll drop more info here as I can ferret it out. Jim

Thanks for the info JTS09! I'd be interested in changes to the electronics suite. An IPOD input? Aux input? USB input (like the Acura RL)? Improvements in the Nav, etc?

Interesting...there is already an auxiliary input since the introduction of the LS 460. USB/iPod makes sense. The new NAVI system will incorporate the graphics and features introduced on the Gen VI system with the 3RX (it's also shown up on the IS C and HS). As for the Remote Touch controller, I somehow doubt they will put that in, considering how the touchscreens of the LS and LX are big but within reach. The IS C has the new graphics but uses the touchscreen still only.

As for more wood and metal trim, I wonder how they will incorporate that, as there is quite a bit of wood already. Perhaps they will put some more metal for the center stack? Some Euro publications have criticized that area as too 'plastic' like.

Will be quite interesting to see the LS Sport model...why not call it an F-package or something, maybe not LS-F if it's not as hardcore...or is it related to the LS 460 SZ rumors...?

I learnt that the new LS 460 will also come with the Smart beam and the APGS will become a standard feature.

What is APGS? Also, any chance that the 2010 LS will get rid of the freeze function preventing use of the nav system while the car is in motion, which they have already done in S. America and Europe?

Park guidance is worthless IMO. The only time I use it is to show it off to someone that hasn't seen it before. Even then it only works accurately about half the time usually because of a slight incline.

Does anyone else ever use the PG in their cars?

I haven't tried it yet. The two times I attempted it, the system barked at me so I quit.

Nah, it was an intersting gimmick to shake up the industry though. Had it been just a little more user friendly, I think we all would have found instances where we would use it. As it is, your going to fast , your too far away from the vehicle next to you, your too far behind, your far forward, too close, etc., etc., etc. Too bad it wasn't tested a little more and a little more refined, before it was put out there.

Is it still even available? You never hear anything about it any more.

I use it three or four times a day, every day. Like any complex feature on any car, you have to put in some practice time before you become competent using it. It took me about two weeks to master it. It is leading edge technology, but it was aimed at the higher-end market for obvious reasons (expensive to implement). However, it will make its way to the mainstream, and younger up-and-comers will find it much easier to adapt to (my son picked it up in minutes) - particularly if it evolves into a simpler animal, and it will eventually be as easy to learn as is a manual transmission, or heel & toe shifting, or double clutching.

I read somewhere Ford has a simpler system coming in 2010...

Can we get this thread back on track re: info on the 2010 LS? Maybe we can start a new thread on the merits/value of APGS?

Is there any more new info re: the 2010 LS?
