TORRANCE, California — Lexus has disclosed plans for a higher-trim level version of its top of the line flagship LS sedans. The new Diamond specification trim will customize the LS with added features and exclusive interior materials.
The LS 460 Diamond Edition will be first offered to Japanese customers, but officials say the Diamond Edition will become available in the United States by fall of this year. It will be available for order through dealerships, with an estimated 4-6 month wait for delivery. Customers can expect to choose from four leather selections and six trim levels, for approximately $12,500 on the LS 460 and $15,500 on the LS 460 L. Included is the choice of one of five exclusive exterior colors, namely Ivory Crystal Mica, Onyx Diamond Mica, Midnight Ruby Metallic, Rainforest Emerald Metallic, and Sapphire Quartz Metallic.
The Diamond-spec leather and trim selections are color-matched in either mono or contrast fashion, and seats can be further customized through the use of contrast stitching. To provide greater opportunity for the production of unique interiors, the upper part of the instrument panel can be covered in a single-tone leather piece as originally seen on the LS 600h L, or a two-tone leather made from the Diamond-spec palette. Additional wood selections include Bubinga rosewood and Piano Black wood.
Other features included with the Diamond Edition are illuminated Lexus doorsills, 20-inch special Diamond alloy wheels, a smart card keyless entry system, and a subscription to the Lexus Enform telematics service. A rear-seat DVD entertainment system remains optional, along with an on-board fax machine and coffee maker. One additional option, a seat warmer linked to the LS' body temperature sensors, is currently slated for Japanese customers only.
What this means to you: Lexus continues to seek out high-end customers, and shows no sign of toning down its opulence in the face of a global economic recession. High-rollers, your chauffeur is waiting.
