Interesting Question to be asking on a Lexus enthusiast website?

If you plan on keeping the car for a long time hands down the Lexus.
The maintenence of a BMW IMHO is ridiculous.. My buddy leases a 745 and he likes it but told me if he were to buy it would be an LS460 because of the maintenance. Good luck on your choice both are nice cars.

Are you looking for brand new or used? In Lexus vs. BMW, for the latter they do come with their free maintenance program which is probably helpful since the reliability of the 7-series is below average. In terms of maintenance the LS 460 will have the regular maintenance costs but should be very problem-free. The other difference is the comparison, the 745Li is the LWB model which would compare more with the LS 460 L. The BMW is more of a driver's car but the Lexus is more of a luxury sedan IMO. IIRC the LS has more hp and slightly better fuel economy.

if you talk about luxury, ls460 is a lot more luxurious than the bmw. but the bmw has much better performance than the ls460, though the ride is a bit harsh imho. maintenance, if you get new, bmw is free for 4 yrs, that's a big plus

Both are great cars in UAE the BMW maintenance is free for 3 years that includes ( Tires , Brak Pads , Oil Filter Change , etc ) The only one thing that you pay for is the whiper. So basically if i was a BMW fan id buy one and sell it in 2.5-2.8 years and buy the latest BMW out there and so on.

Would you get the current BMW style or the one that is right about to be released (F01)?

Whoa Nellie! Hold on a minute...

Wouldn't it be a bad decision to purchase the BMW if you were going to trade out of it in two to three years??? I would think the economics of this would make that a poor choice to make. I know for a fact that the depreciation on the BMW would be HUGE. They just don't hold up well on resale value... at all.

Someone else that has experience in this area could be helpful, but I would think if the gentleman is going to be flipping out of cars every three years or so, that a lease might be a better option? Particularly with the uncertainty on future gas pricing.

First, are u going to buy the brand new 7-series which will be released on 2009 or the current one? if the current one then it is a bad choice because a new shape is comming to the market. in some articals lexus is considered a car in its value. plus it gives u a better price if u will sell it later.

if i will choose, which i already had. i will go for a lexus ls460L

well i was looking into a 2008 model of bmw, i went in both the models today, and it's a very hard choice, lexus more luxury, but the bmw seems complicated, but nice, i did not know how to put the car in drive, looking for about 5 mins. but the dealer told me i cannot just slap on any type rims on the 745, i have to get special custom bmw rims., that cost almost $7,000 , that turned me off a little that to hook up the bmw with a lil mods cause a lil too much. i am going back to the lesu dealer tomorrow and see.

You can put almost any wheel on the BMW as well. What they told you was not accurate. I have several friends that have them and all of the have changed the wheels.

I considered the 750 when I bought my 460. I liked both the exterior and interior styling. In the end I thought the 460 provided much more value for my dollar, was far more reliable (I'm too old to deal with roadside breakdowns any more, I don't care whether they're covered or not, my time is just way too valuable to be wasted on waiting for tow trucks), and the 460 is a tad faster even though I would rarely use that extra HP.

Dude My Cousin Bought A Bmw 745....lol They're Garbage! It Spent More Time In The Dealership Than It Did On The Road..only Had 10,000 Miles When She Got Rid Of It Because Of The Problems. Stick With Lexus, You Cant Go Wrong With Lexus Products.

Uhm, its not a 745 anymore. Its a 750.

The next generation will hit shores in the next few months. If anyone remembers how the 745 debuted, will it as a DISASTER for first year owners, thus I would not recommend the next 750.

The LS won't drive as sporty but meets/beats it/barely loses in most all categories.
