i would love Lexus to buy back our LS.. I am willing to pay for the "usage" of the car.. for some reason, the noise @ 70~80mph is "unbearable"... drove from Vegas.. and by the time I came out of the car, my ears were numb..

and this post.. it really "angers" me...

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. As this casts some doubt on the efficacy of the "wind noise fix," I am merging this with the existing thread on the matter to centralize discussion.

June 17, sounds a bit like they were trying their own repair effort to satisfy a customer, without support from Lexus hq.

I agree, this situation is very annoying and unacceptable for the LS owners that have this problem; hopefully the actual fix will work.

Some owners are going to get their repair done later this week and the next.

Joe, mine isn't scheduled until July 24th. I will let everyone know if this takes care of the problem...

Okay, but it there might be a slight delay. I live 110 miles each way from the dealer. I don't have a blackberry. They told me I should have my car back the same day. I will be there early. They will give me a loaner, but I would rather have my car back the same day. I don't want to drive back there twice.

My car goes in on the 12th - at least as of now - lets see if they call to confirm and/or change the date. I'll post results here.

Has anybody tried driving with the mirrors folded in to see if the noise stops or changes, if the above does not change anything than it is some where else.

The noise comes from the upper part of the doors, not the mirrors. It happens when the window is fully closed. Over 40mph (64Km/h) the noise starts, it's like a distant whistle and it becomes louder as the speed increases.

I've got a call from the dealer, my car is confirmed for the fix on the 12th.

You guys and all those who have pursued this issue unrelented should be commended, and hopefully this fix will fully address the problem, convincing all including sceptics and those sitting on the fence, like me. We will all benefit in some way from your persistence keeping this front and center.

Wow, that sounds like a major expensive 'fix' for Lexus. Hopefully it really does fix the problem on what otherwise is an excellent car.

Default Wind noise and MPG

Bought new LS460L in Albu, NM. With 100 miles on od, drove it home to NW WY. 1000 miles. NO lie: 30.9 mpg from Raton NM to Cheyenne WY on I-25 driving 75-80 mph with stop and go thru denver! Unreal. And yes there is significant wind noise, even more so on the driver's side. How did their engineers let this get by??? Other than that it is a spectacular car. I'm 6'6" and have never been this comfy in a car. And it's quick! Any idea what the fix to the noise is??
