I notice the hold feature is very useful in the stop and go traffic of the SF Bay Area (lots of hills). Is there any harm in turning it on and leaving it on all the time? Thanks.

nop, shouldn't be. it's just a computer holding the brakes for you

Once you turn the hold switch on you can leave it on forever (that is until you shut the motor down) but my understanding is that if the car is actually stopped in Hold that after a period of time it automatically reverts to the emergency brake and goes off Hold. See the manual.

i can confirm this behaviour. i pulled over to play with the settings in the car, with the hold enabled. after a few minutes, the car beeped and announced it was switching to parking brake. at that point, to release it it seemed my choices were to manually release the parking brake or to shift into park and back to drive.

My only problem with the hold button is you have to have your seat belt on for it to work, and to be honest I really don't wear it that often..

yeah....damn you 'Mother'.....at least we can turn the annoying seat belt chime off via LPS.....but then i'd have to put it on anyways to use the 'hold' button....ooh, anyone know of a way to activate the 'hold' button without having to put on the seat belt?.....don't worry, i won't tell on you!
