Default Winter Tires for us up North

Searched the forum and did not see an answer to this...but if there was one, can you point me to it?

here is the question. What winter tire would you recommend or get?

I have an ls 460 swb and live in glorious upstate NY. I have owned 2 ls 400s and 1 ls430. For each i bought blizzak ws-50 winter tires (from tire rack).

I called tire rack the other day, and for 18" (235/50VR18
) wheels they only offer:
1) Bridgestone Blizzak LM-25 ($204)
2) Dunlop SP Winter Sport 3D ($221)
3) Dunlop Winter Sport M3 ($221)

The do not offer the Blizzak ws-50 or the Michelin x-ice.

thanks

What's the difference between the Blizzaks offered and the ones you had on the old car?

I just put Blizzak LM-25's (245/45R19) on my LS.

Since it came with summer tires, I really had no choice.

So far, about the only things I've been able to note are that they handle well on wet and dry pavement, and that they're fairly quiet.

I'm looking forward to a 6" or more snow fall so I can try out the AWD matched with the Blizzak's.

When the summer and winter tires need to be replaced, I expect I'll just use an all-season tire.

not sure what's different. when i checked on tire rack, the ws 50 is a studless/ice tire, the lm 25 is a winter performance tire. customer reviews for both tires were extremely positive.
