By the way, how long does the free-trial XM radio last? And when it expires can I get Sirius without a major equipment hassle?

Free trial is 90 days--I subscribed to XM and I believe XM & Sirius are merging & will be one.

Is Sirius seriously better than XM radio? I thing they are talking about a merge.

I have the Sirius on the CR-V and I like the talk radio over there. For music, XM seems to have a better selection.

After you put air in the tires, did you drive it? It takes a minute for the sensors to transmit to the car and update. Just a thought.

No, I did not drive it, but just started it up and it found the sensors. I have figured out that all four tires show 36 pounds on the Lexus system when my very accurate expensive old-fashioned tire gauge shows 33 pounds. So I'll fill to 33 on the gauge. Then when the car heats up it has been rising from 36 Lexus pounds (33 gauge pounds) to 38 or 39 Lexus pounds. Probably more in the hot summer. The spare, however, has actually GONE DOWN a pound or two after pulling out of my warm garage into the cool fall (Pittsburgh) air. Makes sense since the spare is cooling while the contact tires are heating.

It would really be nice if the system could be recalibrated to the gauge or manually tweaked down to read 3 pounds less.

I have multiple "high end" tire guages and they all vary by 1-3 lbs (the cheap ones are just as variable actually). There is no telling which is accurate unless you can get into some lab at MIT or Stanford!

That's interesting. Perhaps you are right. I wish there was some tire somewhere that the exact pressure is known...then I could use the gauge and know how far off, if at all, it is.

Probably not, but I like my instruments (scales, gauges, etc) to be accurate.

Daryl, its just like if you go into a hardware store and look at the thermometers. I guarantee you if they have 2 or more on the shelf, they all won't read the same temp!

1. The HOLD feature is very valuable here on the steep hills of Pittsburgh. Can/should you leave it on all the time so that it engages at every stop?
A - Yes you can. It will turn itself off next time the engine is turned off.

2. There are straps behind the passenger tail light in the trunk. Are these for the thick owners manuals?
A - I believe those hold the first aid kit, but I am not 100% sure.

3. Early this morning I carefully put 33 pounds of air into all 4 tires (40 pounds into the spare, so I won't have to fool with it for a long time) using a very good tire gauge. (I use an expensive one with a dial, not a cheapie that just pops out a bar). The dash shows the tires to be inflated to 36 pounds. Again, this is all without the car moving (before the tires heat up). Is there a way to recalibrate the dash? I could, of course, just remember that it shows 3 pounds more than the real gauge, but if it can be corrected that would be preferable.
A - No calibration. What needs to be done is to put air in the tires when they're absolutely cold - i.e. without driving more than 1 mile before putting air in the tires.

4. Which of the tire pressure displays is for which tire? The top one is for the spare...I know this because I put more air in and it reflects that. I could figure out the others by playing with the inflation, etc, but I'll bet someone knows. Why does it not just list "FRONT DRIVERS, FRONT PASSENGER, REAR DRIVERS, REAR PASSENGER"? Or is there some listing that needs to be turned on somehow?
A - There's no particular order. In my car for example I know the 1st number at the top is the spare, but the other ones don't follow any particular order and the reason why it doesn't say "rear passenger" etc only the Japanese Engineer that came with that system knows.
