Ok, so I have the Bridgestone Turanza's on my LS 470 SWB, and I was not that pleased with the road noise and wet weather handling. My dealer informed me that Lexus will essentially let me pick any tire I want to try - if I like it, I can keep them; otherwise, I can get the old Bridgestone's back.

So, I don't know much about tire brands and models - what suggestions can anyone here provide? I'm looking for a quiet tire, one that handles well in an all weather environment (I'm in the northeast) Maybe I'm asking too much in terms of a combination of all elements, but I've got to start somewhere.

I think the Bridgestone's are V rated tires.

The Toyo Versado LX has been well received in the context of a luxury tire. I do not, however, know anything about its wet weather performance. Here is a link to its page on Toyo's website: http://www.toyo.com/docs/tires/tires...ategory=luxury

I've heard good things, but the senior tech at my dealership indicated that these may be noiser than the Turanza's I have...

My Bridgestones Turanza EL42 235 50 18 97V were replaced with the Michelin
Pilot HXMXV4 235 50 18V and I was very pleased with the tire, low in road noise,smooth ride and nice handling tire. I would stay away from the Pilot Sport A/S because of road noise level and it is a Directional Tire which means it can not be rotated in the conventional way and some but not all cars to not do well with a Directional tire. The good thing is that Michelin offers a 30 day trial so you can try a tire and if does not work out try another but IMO you can not go wrong with the Michelin Pilot HXMXV4.

Didn't do much more than ask, after explaining my concerns.

Now, I had the wind noise issue, had lease an 07 IS 250 for my wife a month earlier, had purchased two Lexi (is that the plural of Lexus?) from them in the past, and had purchased/leased three BMW from their sister dealership in the past several years. They had also screwed up the security etching on my wife's IS, requiring new windows to be installed, I had the seat bottoming out issue...so all together, I think they felt they owed me something....

Not that it's the be-all, end-all analysis, but end-user reports rand a Goodyear tire as the highest rated in this class:

just read the newest consumer report issue.....it cited the Faulken as the best UHP tires....didn't give the michelin pilot a/s very good ranking.....tire rack doesn't sell Faulken....does that play into the ratings?

Faulken tires have been crappy tires in the past. I would go with the Michelin's.
