Default Tinted Windows

I just bought a Smoky Granite LS460L. It has the black leather interior. Should I tint all the windows one shade like 50% ? I think it will look pretty clean. Any opinions?

I tinted my Obsidian on Black LWB with 20% on the back windows and 35% on all of the rest of the windows. I live in Vegas so we can tint the front driver and passenger SIDE windows up to 35%. I am very happy with the tint.

JP,

Congrats on your LS460L ........... my one word of advice is to check with the local authorities .......... they will let you know what % you can legally apply to both the front and rear windows. It's a pretty big bummer when they pull you over after you've paid good money to have it done and they tell you you have to get it removed!!!! Different states have different "Legal %" for tinting......... it's 20% in back and 15% in the front here in Virginia......

Send me a Photo when you get it done!!!! It should be SWEET!!!!

Congrats

That is my combination.

I never thought of tinting the glass. It seems fine as it is.

I asked the Lexus Live Chat lady about the uV window glass in the LS460....

Bob: What's the uV A and uV B blocking reduction percentages - and is there also any solar heat rejection percentage?
.......
Sylvia Kim: The UV-A and UV-B blocking rate is approximately 92%. The Infra-Red Blocking reduces IR by up to 73%.
Bob: Excellent - really no need for window tinting.
Sylvia Kim: Do you mind holding for one moment. This is for UV glass.
......
Sylvia Kim: It is approximately 90% for the UV-A and UV-B reduction rate.
--------------------------------

Almost all tint film will block 99.99% UV-A&B. Huper Ceramic 60 has about 60% IR rejection.

In my case, I was looking more for UV/IR protection than a reduction in visible light , so the std uV glass had about the same properties I was looking for in a tint => I didn't have to tint.

^^i get tint for the heat reduction.

heat reduction = cooler car = less A/C time = less gas

Thanks, Bob! I was going to tint purely for UV reduction. With our cars coming standard with relatively good UV blocking glass, I won't have to tint. Heat rejection wasn't really a consideration for me.

HEAT REDUCTION!!! Here in Vegas if you don't tint your windows you will Bake in the summer. If you leave your car in the Sun in August the interior can reach up to 150 degrees.... I wish I was kidding but the local newcasters put thermometers in their cars and show it during the news... Tint definitely cuts back on the heat. If you live in an area like Vegas than tint is the way to go.

I ended up going with 35% all the way around and 50% on the windshield. I will post pics in a couple hours.
