Came along this video link.
Hmmm...we'll see if this is true or not...

I've been thinking around 440hp since I believe the first Press Release said 430+hp. 480hp is a huge jump.

Great find!!! I think this is the WSJ video linked with the "Lexus increases cachet" article available to subscribers only.
I'm skeptical of the 480 hp statement. The WSJ video has one confirmed error--saying "V12 performance with fuel efficiency of V8" when it is supposed to be V6.

That's possible. Indeed I was a bit stunned when I saw the official line V12 with V6 fuel economy but they've repeated that for a while now.
As for 480 hp and V8 fuel economy...sounds good too, ultraluxury speaking.

It should at least make that much hp. Here is some info i got from the 600h pr thread. The LS 600h’s
Lexus Hybrid Drive employs a highly compact, three-phase, permanent
magnet AC synchronous type motor, operating on a 650 Volt current to
deliver more than 65kW/224DiN hp. Now if the electric motor is pumping out "more than" 224 hp, ad that to the fact that the 5.0 should make more than the 4.6's 380 hp. 445 hp sounds way too low for the equipment this thing is packing. Somehow the math does'nt add up to me. If they cant get at least 100 hp from a larger motor + electric motor there is something wrong, since they made almost 100 hp more than the 4.3 with the 4.6. This thing should be nothing less than a blistering fast land yacht.
