Default LS460s are fast!

maybe this thread should probably be in the racing forum, but i think it would be pretty relevant and have more ppl appreciate it here.

Yesterday, i was driving down from boston to nyc on CT 15 south.
Speed limit is 55 mph, and i was just crusing along at 68mph.

Suddenly, i saw a pair of xenons coming up fast behind me...so i moved over to the right lane and saw a black LS460 with CT plates, apparently in a bit of a hurry. An older gentleman was driving it.

I tried to follow him but got caught up behind some traffic, so I had to drive at continuously around 90-100 to catch up with him.

So when I got right beside him, we went from 70 all the way until abt 110+. He kept on pulling away and was about 2-3 cars ahead from me at abt 100.
I thought my LS430 was fast at pulling ahead at high speeds (since Im usually even with my friend's CLS500), but the 460 is way faster!

I think im one of the first to experience a race between the 430 and 460.
Anyone else with a 430 tried racing a 460?

Let's just hope the State Police are around next time.

LOL well like Edmunds said:

"Fact is, you won't find a faster [...] sedan unless you consider a car with something really exotic under the hood."

Yes, very fast...of course it's also good to drive carefully.

I agree that this car is really fast. It seems that every time I am at a light I am way ahead of the cars after a quarter mile and I am barely pushing the pedal.

I too have been passed by a Black LS460. I remember he got caught in traffic up ahead and I followed in behind. Once there was nothing in his way...he shot off like a rocket. I havent seen anything pick up like that in a long time. Of course I wasn't about to try and keep up with him, he was crazy fast...and definetely quiet.

yes of course ...safety is number 1.
Thanks to everyone for the concerns of safety.

I just wanted to say that the LS460 is a very fast car, and it shows a good comparison of the 2 different generation of cars.

I can't imagine what will happen if it was a 600h as opposed to a 460.

Tim, I may have been a tad curt with that post. Its just that I know that road and two cars racing at over 110 mph in traffic is dangerous for others on the roadway. I have nothing against going fast myself, but there are times and places for it. I never raced cars, but I did race motorcycles professionally but never on the street. Even when Montana had their "no speed limit" highways, your speed still had to be reasonable and prudent.

That being said, the only reasonable thing for you to do is trade in that 430 and get the 460!

My 460L IS FAST too!!!

I have also noticed that I barely step on the gas pedal at a light and I am usually way ahead of the others. I have also still been averaging 19 to 22 mpg with about 50/50 city/hwy driving.

On an empty stretch of hwy I beat my friends BMW 650 convertible. He couldn't believe it. We only went from about 20mph to about 90 and I am sure that he could have probably moved ahead had we kept going but it wasn't for me to risk my car above 100.

Yeah it's fast. I had a VW Rabbit turbo pass me on the right lane at 100mph when I was at 70mph. I though "I'll get him" - didn't take much, I passed him easy at 125-130 and I saw a big smile and thumbs up out of his window. I lifted right after 'cause I didn't want to say bye-bye my driver's license.

LOL. I would love to see that.

While I had my RSX, the guy in LS430 smoked me and it was pretty embarrassing for me.
