Default 3000 miles and I finally figured it out!

Took delivery of my new 460 on 10/26 and now have a little over 3000 miles on it. I love the car with one exception and my 12 year old came up with the word, it is a little "floaty". Similar to old American luxury cars, the body sometimes just feels a little disconnected from the chassis and the road. In talking to my dealer, he says I am not the first 460 owner to mention this.Sway bars would probably help to firm it up. Has anyone tried to firm up the ride? Do any aftermarket sway bars exist yet? Anyone have any other slightly firm up the ride solutions without totally undermining the Lexus engineers design?

Don't all new LS have an adjustable damper or air firmness setting? Wouldn't that help?

i thought only air suspension has that option?

in any case, this is almost always one of the characteristic of the LS. sway bars will help mostly when you are cornering and turing. imho firmer springs/shocks or air suspension setup would help

Yes, if it's a SWB LS460, then no air suspension option.

Thanks, I know but doesn't it have adjustable dampers? Where I'm coming from is the new GS doesn't have air suspension but I believe ALL GS430s at least come with the adjustable damper settings.

Default The LS460 has an all new front and rear suspension...

with split upper control arms on the front. It does not resemble the LS430. The Touring package would have heavier coil over springs and air suspension set up for a firmer ride feel. Also 19's will make it have more contact patch. The executive package requires air suspension and as LexArazzo said will only be seen on the 460L.

One driver's "too soft" is anothers "too firm" and this is a luxury flagship after all. It has a refined feel to the suspension which has more support than its predecessor. The more I drive it the more it spoils me....

This is a very good point. I know that my '02 5 series with the sport suspension felt incredibly hard to some people but I liked it most of the time (although sometimes it felt even hard to me).

One easy way to help this is by putting on larger rims with lower profile tires. It won't fix it all together but it will help.

I find alot more float and body roll in my new SWB 460 than in my 02 LS430. I don't think anyone could find the 460 ride too firm.
