MB is a rip off. Worse yet, the interior is just an exact copy of 750li. What a joke. MB is going to get their *** kick. I did a test drive one the s, not impress.

I remember when i was waitin to drive the LS and MB i was thinkin to myself, the LS is so graceful understated and elegant, while the MB was just awkward, and the BMW, dated. I have to say i'm a bit torn over the gear stalk on the BMw and MB. Its kinda cool for the lazy in us.

I hated iDrive and Comand, maybe i'd grow to like it ,but in the 2 minutes i had to figure stuff out, i felt like an idiot. And i know everything about cars.

I have seen S550 and LS460 side by side in person and driven them both. LS has a massive presence and the car looks big and elegant. S550 has slimmer bodylines, front end has sharper angles and smaller lights. Same applies to the rear. MB S550 looks sleeker and thinner than the new LS. Comparing those cars side by side the LS(with 19" Touring pckg wheels) has a lot more presence and attitude, S550 is just a nice looking sleek car. In other words LS460's design has soul and strong character, S550 looks like a soulless design exercise, nice looking indeed, but lacks the commanding presence that Lexus has.

PS! By the way LS460 SWB has considerably more rear legroom than S550.

For me, it's not that the iDrive/Comand are difficult to learn. After a while you get somewhat used to the menu system. I'm a software developer and QUITE used to working with menus.

The problem is that it's so cumbersome in use. The delay after pushing or twisting the **** ranges from immediate (rarely) to 15 seconds (or MORE!).

While you're waiting for the response so you can press the next action click or twist, your attention is diverted from the road. You look back at the road, look back at the screen.........

Many times I've spent over several minutes just getting to the screen where I can manually tuning the radio to a particular station. I rely somewhat on the radar cruise control to help me watch out for the car in front.

I eagerly look forward to moving back to an LS in '08 when my 2 year lease expires.

Not to mention that I've had my BMW since February now and it's been in the shop twice. Once I even had to pay $300 even though the car is under warrantee. My previous LS's (1999 and 2003) were NEVER in the shop except for scheduled maintenance.

Wow that's incredibly slow, and dangerous.
