It is not a dedicated iPod port. It is a MP3 player port. I think this means you plug one side in the TOP of the iPod and the other in the console port.
This would be the same as connecting to your home stereo or FM Transmitter. I have not tried it yet, but that is the way I understand it.

IPOD Hookup
The new LS460 has an aux port (miniplug) in the center console (also has a 12v outlet). I hookup my IPOD via a male-to-male miniplug-connecting the IPOD headset outlet to the console AUX port input. You then select the AUX port via the CD/AUX button on the radio unit. Works great with good sound quality

The new LS460 has an aux port (miniplug) in the center console (also has a 12v outlet). I hookup my IPOD via a male-to-male miniplug-connecting the IPOD headset outlet to the console AUX port input. You then select the AUX port via the CD/AUX button on the radio unit. Works great with good sound quality

Just remember -- especially with the ML systems -- that the sound from the headphone jack is not the best way to connect your iPod. Since the signal has already been amplified for headphones, there is added distortion. The connector on the bottom of the iPod offers a true "line out" that can be accessed with products like...
